Saints are ordinary people who lived

extraordinary lives of virtue and love for Jesus!
They are great examples for us to follow
and can pray for us when we
ask them for prayers!
The Holy Family
The Child Jesus
God the Son became a little child and
was named Jesus. He always obeyed
His parents and loved them very much.

The Blessed Virgin Mary

is the perfect example
of a Saint! God chose Mary to be the Mother of
our Lord Jesus. Mary was always willing to say
“Yes!” to God.

St. Joseph
is the Patron Saint of workers.
As Mary’s husband and Jesus’ foster-father,
St. Joseph is a special example of a hardworking,
dedicated man of God.
St. Francis of Assisi
St. Francis of Assisi
was born to a very wealthy family but
gave up all material wealth to love and
serve the Lord.

The Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.
St. Therese of Lisieux
St. Therese of Lisieux
loved Jesus so much that she wanted
to become a nun at a very young age.
Her “Little Way” of loving Jesus was
by loving everyone in any and
every small way she could.

The Little Way

"Love proves itself by deeds, so how am
I to show my love? Great deeds are
forbidden me. The only way I can prove
my love is by scattering flowers
and these flowers are every little
sacrifice, every glance and word,
and the doing of the least actions
for love."
- St. Therese
St. Juan Diego
St. Juan Diego
saw a vision of Mary on a hill one day.
She told him she wanted a church built on the
hill. St. Juan Diego needed a sign of proof
for others to believe that he really saw Mary.
She gave him special flowers to pick and
carry in his cloak as proof. When he opened
up his cloak to show the flowers, everyone was
surprised to see an image of Our Lady on the
cloak! Soon after, a church was built on the site
where Our Lady appeared, and thousands
converted to Christianity.
St. Josephine Bakhita
St. Josephine Bakhita
was a very young girl when she
was kidnapped and sold into slavery. Despite
her hard life she never stopped loving God and
eventually was freed and went into
religious life.

"Be good, love the Lord, pray for those

who do not know Him. What a great grace
it is to know God!"
- St. Josephine Bakhita
St. John Vianney
St. John Vianney
is the Patron Saint of all priests. He gave
us an amazing example of holiness by praying,
fasting and helping people. He would often hear
people’s confessions for 10 to12 hours at
a time and lived in the church!

In honor of the 150th anniversary of St. John Vianney's

death, Pope Benedict XVI declared a “Year for
Priests”, from June 2009 to June 2010.
St. Maria Faustina Kowalska
St. Maria Faustina Kowalska
lived a life of service and love for others as a
Sister of Our Lady of Mercy. She had a very
rich prayer life and received special messages
from Jesus. He wanted her to make everyone
know His love and Mercy. St. Faustina kept a
diary of everything Jesus told her and made a
painting of Him to show His mercy. The
Divine Mercy Prayer St. Faustina shared
with us is recited each day by many
people at 3 p.m.
