Ewell fell on his own knife

It was a Halloween the Finches could
never forget. Jem Finch and Scout Finch
were on their way home after a
Halloween party when they were
assaulted by what seems to be Bob
Ewell.
“I thought he was Cecil Jacobs! I heard
footsteps and they walked when we
walked and stopped when we stopped!”
Bob Ewell had meant business. Jem
Finch broke his arm and injured his head
in the struggle. He has since refused to
give any comments on the incident.
A closer look on Scout’s costume
showed a shiny clean line that stood out
from the dull wire.
“This thing probably saved her life!” Mr.
Heck Tate commented.
Bob Ewell however, was not as lucky.
When Mr. Heck Tate found Bob Ewell,
he was lying under a tree, dead, with a
kitchen knife stuck under his ribs.
“Bob Ewell fell on his own knife. He
killed himself.” – Mr. Heck Tate

Bob Ewell would be most remembered
for the Tom Robinson Trial earlier this
year. His daughter, Miss Mayella Violet
Ewell was raped by Tom Robinson and
sentenced to jail.
Ever since the trial, Judge Taylor has
reportedly seen Bob Ewell lurking in his
house. Helen Robinson, the wife of Tom
Robinson, has also been followed by
Bob Ewell.
Regarding these events, Mrs Alexandra,
Jem and Scout’s aunt have expressed
concern.
“Ewell seems to have a grudge against
everyone that is connected with the case.
Who knows when he would be after us!”
Indeed, it is reportedly said that Bob
Ewell had earlier on threatened to kill
the Finches while they were on their way
home.
It is in consensus that Bob Ewell had
deserved it, for attempting the murder of
young children.
“He was probably drunk.”
