NARRATIVE/ACTION TAKEN
At
approximately
1330
the
assailant
entered
Metropolitan
Bank
and
Trust
Company.
He
proceeded
through
the
line
to
the
tellers
and
waited
until
he
was
called
up
to
Miss
Melissa
Smith’s
booth
at
approximately
1345.
Smith
greeted
him,
inquiring
if
she
could
help
him.
The
assailant
walked
up
and
gave
her
a
note
that
said,
“Give
me
money.
I
require
$200.00.”
According
to
Miss
Smith,
the
assailant
leaned
close
to
the
counter
with
a
strange
look
but
said
nothing.
Smith,
who
was
in
fear
for
her
well-‐being,
relinquished
$200.00
to
the
assailant.
Smith
provided
the
money
as
two
one-‐hundred-‐dollar
bills.
The
assailant
took
the
money
and
walked
quickly
out
of
the
bank.
Smith
hit
the
alarm
and
notified
management.
I
received
a
call
about
the
robbery
at
approximately
1400.
Upon
arrival,
I
interviewed
Miss
Smith,
the
bank
teller
who
was
directly
involved
with
the
assailant.
She
gave
the
above
story.
Miss
Smith
also
reported
that
the
assailant
did
not
cover
his
face
or
try
to
avoid
notice
of
others.
After
taking
down
Miss
Smith’s
statement,
I
reviewed
surveillance
video
of
the
crime
and
verified
the
events
happened
as
were
reported
by
Miss
Smith.
I
also
collected
the
note
that
was
handed
to
Miss
Smith
and
sent
it
in
for
processing.
After
eliminating
Miss
Smith’s
fingerprints,
a
second
set
of
prints
were
identified
by
the
CSU
unit.
Those
prints
were
run
through
the
system
and
matched
to
the
profile
of
Thomas
Howe,
who
had
two
former
misdemeanor
convictions.
I
pulled
the
photo
of
Thomas
Howe
from
his
previous
arrest
records
and
compared
it
to
the
suspect
in
the
surveillance
video.
I
immediately
knew
the
assailant
in
the
bank
robbery
was
that
of
Thomas
Howe.
Thomas
Howe
was
brought
in
for
questioning
on
May
26,
2010,
where
he
was
interviewed
by
myself
and
Officer
L.
Thompson.
During
the
interview,
Mr.
Howe
stated
that
he
entered
the
bank,
told
the
teller
he
needed
money,
and
said
he
wanted
$200.00.
He
stated
he
put
the
money
into
his
pocket
and
walked
home.
Mr.
Howe
stated
he
robbed
the
bank
because
he
“needed
money”
but
had
no
specific
plans
for
the
money.
When
asked
why
he
did
this
after
getting
in
trouble
for
taking
money
from
businesses
in
the
past,
Mr.
Howe
simply
replied,
“But
this
is
a
bank.
They
give
you
money.”
Mr.
Howe
was
arrested
at
the
conclusion
of
the
interview
and
Special
Agent
Tim
Graves
was
notified.
