Subject: Disproving claims of Iranian government representative

stating that all laid off workers of Hat Tapeh Sugar Cane Company
are back to work and protest against lay-off and persecution of
workers

Recently we have heard that the Iranian representative at the ILO meeting (Mr Habib
Tavakolzadeh, Director of International Affairs of Labour Ministry of Iran) has claimed that the
laid off workers and members of the Haft Tapeh workers trade union have no problem at all
and are back to their work!

Laid off workers of Haft Tapeh suffered imprisonment and up till now are experiencing
imprisonment, psychological and economic pressure and laid off since more than two years.

Contrary to the claims of representative of Iran in ILO meeting, since then we have raised
objection against the layoffs and went through all the legal procedures. We instituted two
times legal proceeding to the Labor representative in the city of Shush. Also we lodge a
complaint to the Court of Administrative Justice, which have been rejected in exactly the
same illegal, non-human and anti-worker manner and our layoffs were confirmed.

In recent times, they have noticed that after about two years of unpaid salaries we and our
families are living under extreme economical pressure. To abuse this situation they have
referred us to the Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane Company to liquidate completely and then to start
work in temporary work contracts such as a worker without any previous work experience.

You are certainly aware that this fraudulent manner targets our work relations with the Haft
Tapeh Company and aims to eliminate our claims against to the company. They intend to cut
our relationship with the company and then eliminate our rights as the labor representative or
labor activities.

The Haft Tapeh Workers trade union strongly rejects the claims of representative the Iranian
government.

We demand the return of Haft Tapeh workers Mr. Ali Nejati, Fereydoun Nykovfard, Ghorban
Alipour, Mohammad Heydari Mehr, Jalil Ahmadi, Reza Rakhshan, which are all board
members of Haft Tapeh trade union and also Behrooz Nykovfard another laid off worker to
their union.

This trade union requests all authorities in the International Labor Organization, labor and
human rights organizations and the media:

• To publicize this information

• Take action, protest and pressure the Iranian government for return of fired works to
their work
• Ending the prosecution and jail the workers, labor activists

• To recognize the freedom of building independent worker organizations

We are under pressure and imprisonment for applying our basic rights to institute
independent labor organizations and the Iranian government has to put an end to such
actions soon.

Best Regards

Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane Company (HTSCC) Trade Union
