David Koma also known as David Komakhidze is a Georgian born London

based fashion designer. He graduated in 2009 with a distinction in MA Fashion

from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design after studying and completing
his BA in Fashion Womenswear in 2007.

Personal life
David Koma lives in London with his wife who manages the David Koma Brand.
Achievements
He has for his SS11 collection at London Fashion Week received high coveted
BFC Newgen Catwalk sponsorship. Improving from just the exhibition he will show
on-schedule at London Fashion Week.
His graduate collection of sculptural, body-conscious dresses embellished with
metal tubes and multicoloured chains won Harrods Design Award. Koma was the
Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Merit Award winner 2009.

Born in Georgia, David Koma moved to Saint Petersburg in 1996 where he

studied at the St Petersburg State Academy of Arts and Industry for a BA
Fashion Design.
He moved to London in 2003 where he entered the prestigious Central St.
Martins College of Art and Design, gaining both a BA (Hons) and MA
Fashion Womenswear, going on to win both Best Womenswear Collection
(2007) and Harrods Design Award (2009).
His graduate collection of sculptural, body-concious dresses embellished
with metal tubes and multicoloured chains won Harrods Design Award and
got a lot of press coverage.
This collection revealed David's signature style based on strong shapes
and powerful sexuality which he continues to explore.

His final collection inspired by the contrast of the female silhouette and
contorted metal, delivers both strong and sculptured shapes yet retains a
highly feminine and sexual form, combined with heavy embellishment of
metal tubes and multi-colored chains, revealed his signature style based
on strong shapes and powerful sexuality.

David Koma, the Georgian-born designer who was catapulted into the limelight after Cheryl Cole famously wore
one of his designs during X Factor in 2009, has produced a capsule collection for Topshop.
Five perfectly-formed pieces comprise Koma's design debut for the high-street retailer, which ranges from £100
for a black, metal-tube belt, to £350 for a sleeveless halter-neck dress made from wool, not so dissimilar to the one
chosen by Cole herself.

The collection strongly echoes themes from Koma's past mainline collections, which have also proved popular with
songstresses such as Rihanna, Beyoncé and Kylie Minogue.
Koma, who shows at London Fashion Week, is one of the recipients of Topshop's NewGen sponsorship scheme.

Koma's future looked promisingly bright while he was still at art college; he won the Central Saint Martins "Best
Womenswear Collection" in 2007, and upon graduation in 2009, his MA collection scooped the Harrods Design
award.
