IT work experience

Has gained experience by working for himself by becoming the official IT technician for
friends and family, which due to word of mouth has resulted in more job offers being
received.

Worked for a stage production company known as Hands-On who are based in Govan,
Glasgow that were experiencing growth and required an upgrade to their existing IT systems.

Example tasks carried out included:


• Meeting with the Managing Director and discussing the current system, how the
company operates and plans for the future.
• Upgrading the existing Peer-to-Peer network with new machines. (Operating system
installations, data backups, application installations, driver installations etc..)
• Introduced Print and Windows File sharing that was relevant to their needs.
• Recommended and introduced a security software suite.

Interests

Has a keen interest in fitness, particularly weight lifting and enjoys a variety of music,
clubbing and socialising.

Notable Responsibilities

Class Representative for the HND Computing: Technical Support course at Langside College.
Responsibilities of the role included:

• Identifying yourself to the group of students you are representing.


• Attending training and networking opportunities.
• Identify through discussion, student issues and needs.
• Articulating views representative of student colleagues even when you don’t
personally support these issues.
• Keeping an eye on the stated aims and objectives of your course and ensuring that
these are being met by the teaching that you receive.
• Attending and actively participating in course committee meetings and representing
the views of the student group.
• Liaising with the Students’ Association.
• Working in partnership with the other representatives on issues of joint concern.
• Referring major issues and individual issues to support services or the students’
association (i.e academic appeals or welfare issues).
