Material Able to Store Enormous Amount of Holographic Data

Name :-Material Able to Store Enormous amount of holographic

Data
Developed by: - University of Arizona
Working: - A team of researchers from the managed to create a
material that in the near future could be used to store huge
amount of shifting holographic data.

The prototype system is able to record 3D data by filming an

object from different angles with the help of 16 cameras. Each
camera takes a picture of the object every second.

Afterwards a computer processes all 16 views into holographic

pixel data and transmits a signal to 2 pulsed laser beams. The
latter write the information into the recording material. Throughout
this process the laser beams combine in order to create an
interference pattern of light and dark patches in the recording
material. Then the laser beams fire another light at the patter,
thus reconstructing the three-dimensional pictures,

Normal facts (year, type, range, test ) etc:- The scientist also
said that by creating a material able to store and display 3D
pictures with a 2sec refresh rate the team managed to obtain true
holographic quality.

Special facts:- Together with his team Peyghambarian built and

carried out trials of a 17-inch display with an ultra-swift refresh
rate. The display is able to produce a high-quality picture, in
combination

Field of coverage:- an optical researcher from the University

mentioned that the substance could be used in medicine,
manufacturing and entertainment fields
RoboPutt- Robotic Vending Machine that Give Golf Lessons
Name: - RoboPutt- Robotic Vending Machine that Give Golf Lessons

Working:- The robotic vending machine does all the motions for
the user, the latter only having to hold the golf club. Thus
RoboPutt helps users build muscle memory so they can later
repeat the swing during real games.

After the device is attached the user plays several 100 feet
putts until they obtain the necessary swing (because DiGi
represents a self contained device the user can easily take it out
onto the greens The device is afterwards removed and it wirelessly
sends information on the stroke to the RoboPutt computer. Then
the user fixes their own putter to the vending machine and selects
a course that features 10 progressive lessons with various tips and
advices offered through a pair of headsets. The personal data, as
well as the information on the user's stroke and progress are
introduced on a magnetic card, which allows the user to practice
on any robotic vending machine, reports
Enigma Machine at NSA
Name:- The Enigma machine

Developed by:- The German army

Special facts:- Widely used by Nazi Germany; its cryptanalysis by

the Allies provided vital Ultra intelligence.

Field of coverage:- Decoding of encrypted data for military

purposes
ll Low-Cost Invisible Computer Mouse
Name:- Low-Cost Invisible Computer Mouse
Developed by:- MIT's Media Lab
Working: - An infrared laser beam and infrared
tracking camera to develop a system that reads the
movement of a user's hand and then translates it onto the
display in form of a cursor.

It is worth mentioning that the laser beam's plane is aimed slightly

above the surface of the user area and after the user's hand takes
the form as if it is holding a computer mouse, the beam breaks at
the points where each finger comes into contact with the surface.
Afterwards the infrared tracking camera registers the movements
of the hand and interprets them accordingly. The camera can
identify such actions as clicking and double-clicking.

Field of coverage:- Currently the team is working on

improving the tracking and identification algorithms in their
latest invention in order to obtain a large list of different
commands, which could lead in the future to multi-touch
gesturing
Other information:- system has cost of $20.

Proverbial Wallet Manages Your Expenditure

Name:- Proverbial Wallet Manages Your Expenditure

Developed by: MIT's Media Lab

Working and facts: Three types of Proverbial wallet. One

variation of the wallet vibrates when the owner makes a
purchase using a RFID-enabled credit card. Another variation
grows or shrinks in size, depending on the amount of money
in the user's bank account. The third type is getting harder
to open when there account balance decreases.

InIn order to be able to perform the upper mentioned

functions, the latest invention from MIT researchers has to
be connected to the user's bank account through a Bluetooth
signal from a cell phone or computer.

Normal facts :-There are three types of Proverbial wallet

Special facts:-The Proverbial wallet Although looks almost

like any other wallet, the team's latest invention features a
small device fitted in the middle.

Field of coverage:- Manages Your Expenditure

System thatTurns Real Hand Movements into
Virtual
Name:- System that Turns Real Hand Movements into
Virtual

Developed by:- The latest invention of Robert Wang,

MIT grad student

Working:- Wang's system is able to translate all of the

hand's motions into a 3D image, making it possible for
users to manipulate objects in the virtual world like they
would in real life.

Normal facts (year, type, range, test ) etc:- A system

that requires a Webcam and a pair of rather weird
colorful gloves to turn real hand motions into a 3D image

Special facts:- The main feature of the whole technology

is the Sixth Sense system developed at MIT by
Wang and his faculty advisor Jovan Popovict. It is worth
mentioning that this system relies on colorful pieces of
tape that are attached to a person's fingertips.

Field of coverage:- This his latest invention could be

used in video games. At the same time he believes that
the system would be of great help to designers and
engineers who need to operate different scale models in
3D.
Hot-Water Cooling System for IBM's Supercomputer

votes
Name:- : New Hot-Water Cooling System for IBM's
Supercomputer

Developed by:-IBM

Working:- Although the idea of using warm water for

cooling might sound strange, the testing results are
quite promising. It was discovered that warm water
allows the processors of the supercomputer to work
properly well below the highest point of allowed operating
temperature

Normal facts :- IBM's latest invention is a new cooling

system that consumes 40 percent less energy
compared to air-cooled system used in most machines. In
addition, the direct usage of waste heat in the heating
system of the building is an equivalent of 85 percent cut
in CO2 emissions.

Special facts:-
4,000 times more efficiently than air

Field of coverage:- super computer cooling

1 Terabyte Optical Disc
Name:- 1 Terabyte Optical Disc

Developed by:- Tetsuo Nozawa of Nikkei Electronics

Working:- TDK created a disk using a material with a
high light transmittance. One layer has a light
transmittance of 95.1 percent, while the entire disk has
a light transmittance of 72.6 percent.

Normal facts :- , the company was able to create the

disk with such a capacity by forming 16 recording
layers, each having a capacity of 32GB on both sides

Special facts:- A capacity of 1 terabyte

Field of coverage:- The new disk from TDK could be

used for various applications like home-use recordings,
backups and broadcasting

Other information :- The material has already been

used for part of Blu-ray disc - and it does not have a
problem of durability,
