Rainfall erosivity – R factor


• Erosive potential of rain
• R = ΣEI
• E is the Energy in the Rainfall
• I is the maximum half-hour rainfall intensity for the storm.
• EI values represent ‘Rainfall Erosion Index’.
• R varies with the climate at a particular location.
