There are more than 200 countries in the world, each county of them has some

similarities and differences. It this essay I would like to compare between my lovely
country Oman and the amazing country Malaysia.

On one hand, officially known as Sultanate of Oman, is an Arabic and Islamic


country in southwest Asia. It is bordered by the UAE on the northwest, Saudi
Arabia on the west and Yemen on the southwest. It is around 309,500 square
Kilometer and the cost-line around 1700 kilometer. Arabic is the main language for
the country and the English is used as a second language. According to the last
census the population is around 3 million. The administrative subdivision of Oman
is : four governorate (Muscat, Dhofar, Musandam and Al-B uraimi) and Five region
( Al-Batinah, Al-Dhahirah, Al-Dakhliya, Al-Shariqiya and Al-Wusta), and there are
61 wilayats. The capital city of Oman is Muscat. Sohar , Salalah, Nizwa and Sur are
the main cities in Oman. 18th of November is the national day in Oman. In general,
the climate in Oman is hot and humid along the coast; hot and dry in the interior in
the summer and cold in the winter. The economy of Oman mainly depending on oil
and gas beside agriculture, fishing and tourism. In the last year the United Nations
Development Program classified Oman as the most-improved, developed and stable
nation over the last 40 years from among 135 countries.

On the other hand, Malaysia is a federal constitution Islamic country in southeast


Asia. It is separated by the south China sea into two regions, Peninsula Malaysia
and Malaysian Borneo and commonly known as west and east Malaysia. It consists
of thirteen states and three federal territories. Malaysia has around 326,847 square
kilometers landmass. It has land borders with Thailand, Indonesia and Brunei. The
population of Malaysia is around 28 million. The capital city of Malaysia is Kuala
Lumpur, while Putrajaya is the seat of the federal government. Penang, Ipoh,
Malacca, Johor Baru, Shah Alam, Klang, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Kota Baru, and
Kuala Terengganu are the main cities in Malaysia. The official language in Malaysia
is Melayu, and Chinese, English and Tamil are used as second language by people
who descended from China and India. Malaysia has a hot, humid tropical climate
with two monsoon seasons, one between October and February and the other from
April to October; the latter is characterized by thunderstorms. Temperatures and
humidity are high all year round, but it is slightly cooler in the mountains. Malaysia
has one of the best economic records in Asia, with GDP growing an average 6.5%
for almost 50 years. The economy has traditionally depending on natural resources
such as oil, gas, rubber, palm oil, timber, cocoa, rice, tropical fruit, fish, and
coconut, but is now expanding in the sectors of science, tourism, commerce and
medical tourism.

In brief, we can observe that we are living in the same planet; however, our
countries have several differences and similarities. I can conclude by this we need to
learn much about other countries, because this will wide our knowledge and
understanding. My advice to all of you, be aware about other countries.
