Major component of course was object orientated programming. Have used both Java and C sharp during the course.
● Created a football league program that allowed for the creation of a team, players and for the results of
matches to be input. This was created as a console application in java and then ported as a web application
using java servlets.
● Implemented sorting and search algorithms to the league to allow searching for a particular player, team or
match. Also allowed for the league to be sorted and displayed by different criteria as overall points, matches
played or goal difference.
● Used C sharp and XNA sdk to design and implement a strategy for an automated football team game.
● Using XNA and C++ to edit the behaviour of a simple Asteroids game. To automate the behaviour of the
ship.

Final Year Thesis:

Design and Implementation of controllers for a ball and beam system


● Conducted research into open and closed loop control systems and methods of implementing control
systems.
● Designed and implemented control systems using MATLAB and Simulink
● Used Technosoft’s Total Motion Language to provide an easily demonstration for future presentation using
this system
● Delivered a 20 minute presentation followed by a questions and answers session about project and work
carried out.

Intern (January 2008 - August 2008) - Telecommunications Systems Software Group, Carraiganore, Waterford
● Member of FeedHenry Group
● Worked on content creation for a local newspaper wishing to modernise and expand their online presence
● Experience developing in C sharp and .Net Framework to implement new functionality to an existing address
validation service
● Worked as part of software Validation and verification team to ensure all releases were bug free and of a
high standard before release.

● Provided friendly and efficient customer service
● Ensured all stock levels were maintained and replenished when required

Computer Skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and productivity suites such as open office and symphony. Utilise Internet and
Email on a regular basis. Also maintain a personal blog at http://www.voodooswordfish.com. Knowledge of Java and
object orientated programming, also have used mathematical software such as maple and MATLAB over duration of
degree.

Achievements and Interests

College: Represented WIT as part of a team in Robocode programming competition in 2006.


Finished in third place. Robocode is a competition run by Tipperary Institute of
technology for first year programming students.

Sport: Member of WIT Kayak Club and currently serving on committee as secretary. Currently
preparing for level 3 proficiency in kayaking and hope to start instructor training soon
after. Played Basketball competitively up to age 16 and continue to enjoy playing as a
social game.
