Prayer Walk In Detroit Over 400 Detroit area Churches are participating with us in
4.17 the EACH movement. To kick off the 40 days which begins
Easter Sunday is a Prayer Walk that will be held April 16th.
Palm Sunday
The festivities of the walk will begin at 8am when the
4.21 parking at Co-America will be open. Praise and Worship at
9 and the Walk will begin at 9:30. We will walk from
Maundy Thur. Communion 7pm Comerica Park to the Spirit of Detroit Statue and back. We
4.24 will then stick around for awhile enjoying the atmosphere of
this event. We are currently praying for 20,000 people that
Easter Sunrise 7 am
will walk and pray. The Allen Park Church of the Nazarene
Breakfast 8 am (Bring Food) is taking their bus and we can catch a ride with them and
car pool to save gas and parking fees. We encourage you
10 am Service to be a part of this day. It should be historic.
5.5 Easter Sunday we will kick off EACH 40 days by having an
ecumenical Sunrise Service with Allen Park Church of The
6 pm Cookout 7 pm Prayer Rally
Nazarene, Lighthouse Lincoln Park, and Harvest Nazarene

A Word From Pastor
After we met, I did not want to go out
with any other girl. I know it is
probably hard to believe but I really did
pray that I would meet a girl like my
mother. I also prayed that my marriage
would be as strong as my parent’s
marriage. We both knew early on that
our relationship was special, and
although we do not recommend it,
Dottie and I were married just a couple
of months after we met. I still
remember the first time I kissed her. It
was a perfect kiss in the parking lot of
the Park Lanes Bowling Alley. For all
of you romantics, it was a kiss
goodnight and our lips met perfectly.
WOW! I left the parking lot saying,
Good Night! Good Night! Good Night!
It was April 10, 1971 that we were
married. I just want to interject that I
think she is more beautiful today than
the day we were married. We tied the
knot at the Chapel of Happiness, in El
Cajon, California. We honeymooned in
Long Beach on our way to our new
home in Anaheim, California, the home
of Disneyland. Early on my job was a
dream come true. It involved much
travel, nights in the most luxurious
motels, meals in the nicest restaurants ,
and a very good salary. I felt like I was
living in the fast lane, doing everything
I wanted. The job was very demanding
though. It involved maintaining the
telephone systems of these luxurious
motels. We traveled to scenic places
like San Francisco, Palm Beach, Las
Vegas, New Mexico, San Diego, Santa
Barbara, Los Angeles, Bakersfield and

of Lincoln Park at 7 am. We are hosting the event
and everyone is welcome. Terry Haugh will be
directing a mass choir and we need as many of
you singers to join the group as possible.
Following the Sunrise Service we will have a
breakfast in the gymnasium. We are asking
people to be creative and bring breakfast
casseroles, breakfast meats, and other breakfast
items. We will have a combined service at 10 am
on Easter Sunday and we are asking you to attend
the Sunrise and 11 am services.
We are also planning on having a concert of
prayer on the National Day of Prayer. We are
inviting Westland Free Methodist, Dearborn Free
Methodist, Lighthouse of Hope Free Methodist of
Flatrock and maybe other Free Methodist
Churches and our community to take part. The
Pastors of these churches will participate in the
prayer service at 7 pm. We plan to grill some hot
dogs, have chips, baked goods and potato &
macaroni salad from our ladies. The cookout will
begin at 6 pm and the Concert of prayer at 7 pm.
We are also participating in the Community
Concert of Prayer at noon. It will be held in the
courtyard of our City Hall on Goddard and if it
rains it will be held in the City Counsel Chambers.
On May 21 we will be having a Blessfest with
other Downriver Churches from 10 am to 2 pm.
The purpose of the Blessfest is to bless our
community in areas where there are hurting
people. Healthcare, Dental Care, Job Fair,
groceries, counseling, Children’s ministry and
other blessing ministries will be at Blessfest. We
will need an army of volunteers that day.
We also plan to do some surveying of the
neighborhoods around the downriver churches to
determine the needs of our neighbors and offer as
many helps as we can. Our goal is to be able to
share Jesus with many.
COMMITMENT TO EACH—We are asking
everyone in our church to commit to 40 hours of
community ministry this next year. 8 of those
hours are to be served during the 40 days of
EACH, between Easter and Pentecost Sunday.
The Pastoral Staff is currently preaching a series
to kick off each and we are trying to involve our
entire church. The Children will be receiving Dog
Tags and bracelets that will help them share their
faith with their friends. Our teens and the children
will receive some EACH training during their
meeting times. Please see Lynne Meharg this
Sunday to commit to the 40 hours.

A Word From The Pastor
Hollywood. We worked and
traveled almost 24/7. We had a
luxury apartment in Anaheim but
we did not get to enjoy it much
because of the constant travel
and stress of the job. To make a
very long story short several
months later, we were very frus-
trated, tired, stressed, and felt
like walking out on everything.
Dottie and I had been on the road
a very long time and we had run
out of money. Additionally, the
company wanted us to continue
on the road without returning to
our apartment where we had two
payroll checks waiting for us. In
this frustration Dottie and I put
our nickels, dimes and pennies
together. We had just enough
money to buy a pizza. Dottie was
in the shower and I was going to
order the pizza. I had some very
negative thoughts going through
my head when I decided to order
the pizza. As I reached into the
dresser drawer to get the tele-
phone book…...I pulled out the
Gideon Bible that changed our
life. It was like grabbing the
hand of a friend; A long lost
friend. It was like holding a love
that I had not held in months (the
length of my job). This was a
very real turning point in our
lives. As Dottie and I talked, we
decided that the job, and the
money was not worth what it
was doing to us. As I thumbed
through the pages of that Gideon
Bible I read several familiar
verses. I called my boss and re-
signed immediately. Dottie and I
went back to our apartment,
packed our car and headed back
to Ohio. We have never looked
back. God has been very good to
us. He has honored our decision
to put Him before job, before
money, and before glamour. We
have never been sorry. We’re
blessed with things money can-
not buy.
On March 9, 1973 Dottie and I
became parents for the first time
to a precious little girl. We
named her Leona after Dottie’s
mother and she has been one of
the greatest joys of our life. On
March 7, 1977 we became par-
ents of a second precious little
Girl. We named her Lynnette.
She too has been a blessing. too.
Her name is as unique and spe-
cial as she was. She had major
health issues at birth and the doc-
tor told us her condition was
very serious. We prayed and God
gave Dottie peace that Lynnette
would be coming home with us.
It is a story all in itself. Lynnette
did come home and was miracu-
lously healed on a Sunday Morn-
ing at the very time our church
was at an altar praying for her.
We know God healed her that
moment.
When Lynnette was four and
Leona eight we began a family
ministry doing Gospel Programs.
We used music, illusion, ven-
triloquism, chalk art, puppets,
and much memorization to pre-
sent the Gospel. It was very fun
and it bound us together as a
family. We prayed together, and
we played together. Our family
was and is very close.
Most of you know that we
moved to Florida and while there
we joined three other families
and started a church. Dottie and I
worked, went to Bible College
and remained very active in the
schools where our daughters at-
tended. We became the senior
pastors of the Ocala Church and
ministered there twelve years
before God called us to Taylor,
Michigan. The day we were tak-
ing Leona and Toby out for a
meal to let them know we had
accepted a position in Taylor,
Michigan they too had news to
share with us. Leona was preg-
nant with our first grandchild. At
that meal we were so excited
about Michigan until Leona and
Toby made their announcement.
God knew what He was doing.
We fell in love with the Taylor
people, and now we have four
grandchildren. Two are here in
Taylor and two are in Ocala. But
all the parents of our grandchil-
dren love the Lord and are serv-
ing in the church.
Dottie and I are empty nesters
now and forty years seems im-
possible to us. We are so very in
love and the time has gone
quickly. Oh yes and many per-
fect kisses later we have decided
that the decision made long ago,
after only two months of know-
ing each other was God or-
dained. It would take me 40
years to tell you the entire story
and I am not about to do that. We
are still making great memories
as we now march toward 50
years of blissful happiness. PB

Handfuls of Purpose Puppets
We are excited that Handfuls of Pur-
pose will be performing on May 21st at
Blessfest. Blessfest is an outreach that
is designed to bless our community. The
children will enjoy the Handfuls of Pur-
pose Puppets and the Ministry of Pastor
Bill, and Children’s Ministers from the
Downriver churches. May 21 will be his-
toric as churches from various denomi-
nations join together to Bless the Down-
river People. We are planning a Job Fair,
Utility Help, Housing Advise, Health
Care, Dental Care, Food and ministries
to other needs in the community. All
hands on deck to help with this one.

We are going to take a special Easter Offering to help support our Fish and
Loaves Budget on Easter Sunday. Special Envelopes will be distributed in
every bulletin and the Money Collected will be earmarked to support our in-
volvement in Fish and Loaves. Hundreds of people receive groceries from
Fish and Loaves every year. Our 2011 Fish and Loaves budget is $600.
