1. INTRODUZIONE

Vodafone Automotive 2231 è un dispositivo che, per mezzo dei sistemi integrati GPS/GSM/GPRS, è in grado di inviare ad un
server principale i dati acquisiti dalla vettura, in particolare quelli relativi alla sua posizione, velocità e tempo di utilizzo.
Questo manuale contiene tutte le informazioni necessarie per eseguire l’installazione del Vodafone Automotive 2231.

3. INSTALLAZIONE DEI DISPOSITIVI VODAFONE AUTOMOTIVE 2231 E 106X

È di fondamentale importanza che l’installazione sia eseguita a regola d’arte.

Nessuno dei collegamenti indicati in questo manuale può essere omesso.
Un’errata installazione invaliderà i vantaggi assicurativi di cui potrebbe beneficiare il cliente.

Per non causare danni all'impianto del veicolo durante l'installazione, si consiglia di scollegare il cavo negativo
della batteria e ricollegarlo solo ad installazione ultimata. Qualora si proceda senza scollegare la batteria, per
evitare la possibile generazione di errori da parte delle centraline originali del veicolo è indispensabile prestare la
massima cautela nell'eseguire i collegamenti e nell'utilizzare gli utensili d'installazione.

Al fine di evitare l’esposizione umana ai campi elettromagnetici, la distanza del dispositivo rispetto agli occupanti
del veicolo deve essere maggiore di 0,25 m.

3.1 Posizionamento del dispositivo 2231

Il dispositivo 2231 deve essere installato all’interno dell’abitacolo, lontano da fonti di calore e in posizione nascosta per
rendere difficili eventuali tentativi di manomissione. Le antenne GPS e GSM sono integrate nel dispositivo, per tale ragione
durante l’installazione devono essere presi alcuni accorgimenti:

• posizionare il dispositivo il più lontano possibile dall’autoradio per evitare interferenze durante l’ascolto
provenienti dal sistema GSM integrato nel dispositivo;
• evitare che la parte superiore e laterale del dispositivo siano coperte da parti metalliche;
• il dispositivo deve essere posizionato con la scritta a vista cielo.

3.2 Fissaggio meccanico

Effettuare un primo fissaggio meccanico del dispositivo 2231 con il velcro biadesivo (A) fornito in dotazione (vedi figura sotto).
Una volta eseguita la procedura di attivazione (punto 5), fissare ulteriormente il dispositivo con le fascette (C) o in alternativa
con le staffe (B) a vite (non fornite in dotazione), sfruttando le asole predisposte (vedere figura seguente).

3.3 Installazione del dispostivo 106X

Il dispositivo Vodafone 106X deve essere installato all'interno della vettura, lontano da fonti di calore.
L'installazione del dispositivo deve soddisfare i seguenti requisiti:
- può essere posizionato sia su superfici orizzontali sia su verticali e sempre con l'uscita del cavo verso la parte anteriore del
veicolo (la freccia sulla parte superiore del prodotto deve essere orientata verso la parte anteriore del veicolo);
- deve essere fissato su un piano metallico alla struttura del veicolo con una inclinazione massima di ± 4 °;
- il dispositivo non deve essere fissato interponendo staffe o altri supporti.

L'ORIENTAMENTO E LA POSIZIONE DI INSTALLAZIONE DEL DISPOSITIVO SONO ASSOLUTAMENTE VINCOLANTI PER

GARANTIRE LA CORRETTA FUNZIONALITÀ.

3.4 Installazione meccanica del dispositivo 106X

E’ molto importante posizionare il modulo, fissarlo momentaneamente utilizzando nastro biadesivo e quindi poi fissare
definitivamente utilizzando la vite fornita.
Per evitare successivamente movimenti accidentali del modulo, a causa di normale manutenzione del veicolo, si raccomanda
di fissare il cavo del modulo a un elemento fisso della struttura del veicolo utilizzando la fascetta in dotazione.

3.5 Manutenzione, sostituzione e riposizionamento del modulo 106X

Nel caso in cui il modulo 106X debba essere temporaneamente rimosso, sostituito o riposizionato, prima di effettuare qualsiasi
operazione è necessario mettere il sistema in modalità “First installation” chiamando il numero 0688170868.
PORTARE SUCCESSIVAMENTE LA CHIAVE DI ACCENSIONE DEL VEICOLO IN POSIZIONE OFF, SCOLLEGARE IL CONNETTORE DEL
MODULO 106X DAL 2231 e disalimentare il 2231.
Solo a questo punto è possibile eseguire gli interventi del caso. Una volta terminato l’intervento riposizionare il modulo 106X,
verificando il corretto fissaggio e posizionamento (vedi paragrafo 3.3 e 3.4), ricollegare il connettore del modulo 106X al
cablaggio e alimentare il 2231.
Eseguire la procedura di attivazione come se fosse una prima installazione.
SI RACCOMANDA DI RICOLLEGARE IL CONNETTORE SOLO QUANDO IL MODULO 106X È DEFINITIVAMENTE POSIZIONATO E
FISSATO.

4. COLLEGAMENTI ELETTRICI

Si raccomanda di eseguire la giunzione dei cavi con la massima attenzione.

Si sconsiglia l’uso di “giunzioni rapide” che non assicurano un collegamento elettrico di qualità.
Si raccomanda inoltre di posizionare i cavi dei dispositivi Vodafone Automotive 2231 e 106X in modo tale che seguano quelli
del cablaggio originale del veicolo e di unirli ad esso con fascette.
È necessario interporre i fusibili di protezione, forniti in dotazione, sui fili del cablaggio relativi all’alimentazione e positivo sotto
chiave (+15) come indicato nello schema di collegamento.

Il positivo deve essere connesso

fusibili o al positivo della batteria.

E' di fondamentale importanza

che il positivo sotto chiave (+15)

4.1 Alimentazione batteria (+30)

SI RACCOMANDA DI COLLEGARE L’ALIMENTAZIONE SOLO QUANDO IL DISPOSITIVO È DEFINITIVAMENTE

POSIZIONATO E FISSATO.
Il negativo deve essere collegato ad un punto di massa originale del veicolo oppure collegato direttamente al
polo negativo della batteria.
Il positivo deve essere collegato ad un positivo (+30) sempre presente della scatola fusibili o al positivo della
batteria.
ATTENZIONE: Assicurarsi che il veicolo non sia dotato di sensori di assorbimento. In tal caso collegarsi sempre
direttamente alla BATTERIA!

4.2 Positivo sotto chiave (+15)

È di fondamentale importanza che il positivo sotto chiave (+15) sia sempre presente in fase di avviamento e
quando il motore è acceso, ovvero quando la chiave di avviamento è in posizione di marcia.
È altresì indispensabile che il +15 NON SIA PRESENTE in qualsiasi altra posizione della chiave accensione.
Ciò garantisce il corretto funzionamento del GPS e la regolare acquisizione automatica della posizione.
Controllare che il positivo sotto chiave (+15) scelto sia conforme ai requisiti quanto sopra indicato.

5. ATTIVAZIONE DEL SISTEMA VODAFONE AUTOMOTIVE 2231 E ACCESSORI.

Prima di procedere assicurarsi che il veicolo si trovi all’esterno, in piano, il più lontano possibile da edifici
e da tettoie per avere la massima copertura del sistema GPS e verificare che nella stessa posizione ci sia
sufficiente copertura GSM. Prima di alimentare il 2231, si prega di inviare il certificato di installazione con
i dati del cliente e del veicolo all’NSP. Osservare lo stato del LED tra i connettori "J1" e "J2" per il corretto
funzionamento del sistema.

5.1 Inizializzazione

Inserire il connettore "J1" del cablaggio nella controparte del dispositivo 2231.
Con chiave di accensione in posizione OFF, inserire il fusibile dell’alimentazione da 3 A nel portafusibili interposto
sul cablaggio.
Ad avvenuta alimentazione il 2231 invierà automaticamente il messaggio di inizializzazione al server. Questa fase è segnalata
dal LED con il lampeggio veloce che poi diventerà lento per segnalare che l’invio del messaggio di inizializzazione è andato
a buon fine.

5.2 Configurazione

Accendete il quadro (+15 ON) e attendete 5 min. circa prima di contattare telefonicamente l'NSP per eseguire congiuntamente
le fasi seguenti:

5.2.1 Verifica del ricevimento del messaggio di inizializzazione

L’NSP verifica di aver ricevuto correttamente il messaggio di inizializzazione che il 2231 ha automaticamente inviato.

5.2.2 Configurazione del sistema

L’NSP, se necessario, configura il sistema in funzione del servizio scelto.

5.2.3 Test di diagnostica e localizzazione

L’NSP invia un comando di localizzazione per controllare il corretto funzionamento del dispositivo e per verifica,
comunica all’installatore la posizione della vettura.

5.2.4 Test blocco avviamento/attivazione clacson (ove previsto)

L’operatore invierà un comando di blocco avviamento o un comando di attivazione clacson e vi chiederà di controllare
se il vostro veicolo non si avvia o se il clacson suona.

5.2.5 Test ingresso digitale (ove previsto)

Dopo aver collegato l’ingresso digitale a un dispositivo esterno, l’installatore lo attiverà generando un allarme: a
conferma dell'allarme ricevuto, il LED del 2231 emetterà un breve lampeggio.

5.2.6 Test Pulsante (ove previsto)

1. Lo stato del dispositivo deve essere in “First Installation” e il pulsante panico deve essere correttamente configurato.
2. Il dispositivo può essere inserito o disinserito.
3. Verificare che ogni volta che il pulsante panico viene premuto, il LED del dispositivo si accenderà fisso finché il
pulsante rimane premuto.
4. Se la prova ha esito negativo, verificare i collegamenti.

5.2.7 Test del 106X

1. A motore spento, osservare lo stato del LED posto tra i connettori "J1" e "J2" per un corretto funzionamento del
sistema.
2. Se il LED è spento e si accende ogni 5 s, il sistema è stato installato e attivato correttamente.
3. Se il LED lampeggia 2 s ON/2 s OFF, il sistema non è attivo: il 106X potrebbe non essere stato collegato o è
stato inserito in modo errato o non è funzionante. Controllare il 106X per la corretta connessione, installazione e
orientamento. Accensione/spegnimento del ciclo.
4. Se il LED lampeggia rapidamente per 2 s seguito da 2 s ON/OFF, il modulo 106X è stato calibrato correttamente.
5. Dopo il passo 4, il LED si spegne, con accensione ogni 5 s, confermando che il 106X è stato installato e attivato
correttamente e finalmente il LED si spegnerà in 3 min. dopo che l'accensione è spenta (+15 OFF).

5.3 Conferma e attivazione del servizio

5.3.1 Attivazione del Servizio

L'NSP sarà in grado di attivare il Servizio solo dopo aver ricevuto il modulo di abbonamento contenente i dati del
Cliente.

5.3.2 Conferma Attivazione del Servizio

Il Cliente riceverà un SMS dal NSP a conferma dell’avvenuta attivazione del Servizio, nel quale troverà il proprio codice
di emergenza. Il codice serve all’utente nel caso in cui sarà attivato il blocco avviamento del veicolo (ove
previsto, vedi manuale utente).
5.4 Segnalazione LED del 2231

Il LED del dispositivo rende disponibili alcune segnalazioni di stato, utili a individuare eventuali problemi.

Operazione compiuta dal Service Provider, successivamente al Collaudo Tecnico e Funzionale, consistente nella registrazione
dei Dati Personali contenuti nel modulo di abbonamento.

GPS
Global Positioning System. Il ricevitore GPS installato nel dispositivo 2231 permette di individuare la posizione della vettura.

GSM
La rete di telefonia cellulare che supporta le comunicazioni via SMS.

MODULO DI ABBONAMENTO
Il modulo contenente i dati del Cliente, del veicolo, del contratto prescelto, nonché i numeri di telefono obbligatori per la
notifica dei messaggi di allarme al Cliente da inviare al Service Provider.

E’ il fornitore del servizio sul territorio Nazionale.

1. INTRODUCTION

Vodafone Automotive 2231 is a device which, by means of integrated GPS/GSM/GPRS, it is able to send to a main server the
data acquired from the vehicle, in particular those related to its location, speed and time of use.
This manual contains all the information necessary to perform the installation of the Vodafone Automotive 2231 device.

It is essential that the installation is performed in a workmanlike manner.

None of the connections shown in this manual can be omitted.
Failure to do so will invalidate the insurance benefits that could benefit the customer.

In order not to cause damage to the vehicle during installation, it is advisable to disconnect the negative cable
battery and reconnect only when installation is completed. If you proceed without disconnecting the battery, to
avoid possible generation of errors on the original control units of the vehicle, it is essential to exercise extreme
caution performing the connections and using the installation tools.

In order to avoid human exposure to electromagnetic fields, the distance of the device with respect to the
occupants of the vehicle must be greater than 0.25 m.

3.1 Installation of the 2231 device

The Vodafone Automotive 2231 device must be installed inside the car, away from heat sources and in hidden position to make
difficult any tampering attempts. The GPS and GSM antennas are built into the device, for that reason during the installation
some precautions must be taken:

• place the device as far away as possible from the car radio to avoid interference during listening, coming from the
GSM system built into the device;
• avoid that the top and sides of the device are covered with metal parts;
• the device must be installed with product inscription oriented upward.

3.2 Mechanical installation

Make a first mechanical fastening of the 2231 device with velcro adhesive tape (A) supplied in the fitting kit. Once completed
the activation process (step 5), further secure the device with the tie-wraps (C) or alternatively with the brackets (B) and screws
(not supplied), using the side slots of the product (see figures below).

3.3 Installation of the 106X device

The Vodafone 106X device must be installed inside the car, away from heat sources.
The installation of the device must meet the following requirements:
- it can be placed both on horizontal and vertical surfaces and, always with the output of the cable toward the front of
the vehicle (the arrow on the top of the product has to be oriented to the front of the vehicle);
- it must be fixed on a metallic plane integral with the vehicle structure, with an inclination maximum of ± 4 °;
- the device must not be secured by the interposition of brackets or other supports.

THE ORIENTATION AND THE INSTALLATION POSITION OF THE DEVICE ARE ABSOLUTELY BINDING TO ENSURE
THE CORRECT FUNCTIONALITY.

3.4 Mechanical installation of the 106X device

It is very important to secure the module using double-sided tape as the first momentary position and then using the
screw provided.
To prevent accidental movement of the subsequent module, due to normal maintenance of the vehicle, it is
recommended to fix the cable of the module to a fixed element of the vehicle structure using the supplied tie-wrap.

3.5 Maintenance, replacement and repositioning of the 106X

If the 106X module should need to be temporarily removed, replaced or repositioned, before you perform any operation
it is necessary to put the system in "First installation mode" by calling the phone number 0844 232 0039.
AFTER MOVING THE IGNITION KEY TO “OFF“ POSITION, DISCONNECT THE CONNECTOR OF MODULE 106X FROM 2231
AND POWER DOWN THE 2231.
Only at this point you can do the appropriate maintenance. Once you have completed the maintenance of 106X and
verified its correct mounting and positioning (see section 3.3 and 3.4), reconnect the connector of module 106X to wiring
and supply the 2231.
Run the activation procedure as if it were a first-time installation.
BE SURE TO RECONNECT THE CONNECTOR ONLY WHEN THE MODULE 106X IS FINALLY POSITIONED AND FIXED.

4. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

Remember to take the utmost care when joining two or more wires.
It is inadvisable to make “quick connections” that do not ensure a good quality job.
Also make sure that the wires of the Vodafone Automotive 2231 and 106X are routed so that they follow the original wiring of
the vehicle to which they should be joined with the relative clamps.
It is required the addition of fuses, supplied in the fitting kit, on the harness wires relative to battery voltage (+30) and key-ON
voltage (+15) as specified in the main connection diagram.

4.1 Battery Voltage Supply (+30)

IT IS RECOMMENDED TO CONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY WHEN THE DEVICE IS PERMANENTLY LOCATED AND
FIXED.
The negative wire supply must be connected to a point of the original ground of the vehicle or connected directly
to the negative contact of the battery.
The positive wire supply must be connected to a continuous positive battery voltage (+30), always present in the
fuse box or on the positive of the battery.
CAUTION: Ensure that the vehicle is not equipped with current absorption sensors. In this case, always connect
directly to the BATTERY!

4.2 KEY-ON Voltage Supply (+15)

It is essential that the KEY-ON positive voltage (+15) is always present in the starting phase and when the engine
is turned ON or when the ignition key is in the run position.
It is also essential that the +15 IS NOT PRESENT in any other position of the ignition key.
This ensures the proper functioning of the GPS and the correct automatic position acquisition. Check that the
KEY-ON positive voltage (+15) selected is corresponding to the above requirements.

5. VODAFONE AUTOMOTIVE 2231 SYSTEM AND ACCESSORIES ACTIVATION

Move the vehicle outside, far away from buildings and roofs to ensure the maximum coverage from the
GPS system. Check also if in the position chosen there is enough GSM coverage.
Before powering the 2231, please submit the Installation Certificate with the customer data and the
vehicle at the NSP. Observe the status LED between connectors "J1" and "J2" for a correct operation of
the system.

5.1 Inizialization

Fit the wiring harness "J1" connector in the 2231 device counterpart.
With the ignition key on the OFF position, insert the 3 A power fuse in the fuse holders on the wiring.
As soon as powered, the 2231 sends automatically the initialization signal to the server. This phase is signalled by a fast led
blinking that will become slow to confirm that the initialization message has been successfully submitted.

5.2 Configuration

Switch the ignition key ON (+15 ON) and wait about 5 min. before calling the NSP to carry out the following phases:

5.2.1 Check that the initialization message has been received

The NSP check if the initialization message automatically delivered by the 2231 has been properly received.

5.2.2 System configuration

If required the NSP configures the system as for the service chosen.

5.2.3 Diagnostic and localization test

The NSP sends a localization command to check the correct system working and asks the installer to confirm the
vehicle position detected.

5.2.4 Crank inhibition test/horn activation (where present)

The NSP sends a command to activate the crank inhibition or horn activation and asks the installer to check if the
engine doesn’t start or if the horn sounds.

5.2.5 Digital input test (where present)

With the digital input connected to an external device the installer has to trigger the input: to confirm that the signal
has been received the 2231 LED will make a quick flashing.

5.2.6 Push-button Test (where present)

1. The device status has to be First Installation and the Panic button has to be correctly configured.
2. The device can be in armed or disarmed status.
3. Verify that every time the Panic button is pushed, the device LED will light ON as long as the button remain
pushed.
4. If test fails, verify the electrical connection.

5.2.7 106X Test (where present)

1. Engine OFF. Observe the staus LED between connectors "J1" and "J2" for a correct operation of the system.
2. If the LED is OFF, with flash each 5 s, the system is installed correctly and activated.
3. If the LED blinks 2 s ON/2 s OFF, the systemis not active: 106X may not be connected or incorrectly
postioned or not working. Check 106X for correctly connection, instllation and orientation. Cycle ignition ON/
OFF.
4. If the LED fast blinks for 2 s followed by 2 s ON/OFF, the Module 106X is calibrated correctly.

 5. After step 4, the LED will be OFF, with flash each 5 s, confirming that 106X is correctly installed and activated
and finally the LED will extinguish in 3 min. after ignition has been turned OFF (+15 OFF).

5.3 Service activation and confirmation

5.3.1 Service activation

The NSP will wait to receive the customer’s subscription form containing all the customer’s data before providing any
service.

5.3.2 Service activation confirmation

As soon as the NSP will receive the customer’s subscription form the user will receive a message to confirm the service
has been activated. In the same message the user will get also the Override code. This code will be required only to
disarm the crank inhibition or stop horn activation (where present, see user manual).

5.4 LED indications of the 2231

The LED of the device makes available some status messages, useful to detect possible problems.
