WFEO Anticorruption Workshop

Brasilia December 1st, 2008

Dear colleagues, friends and Guests:

It is my pleasure to invite you all, as the chair of the WFEO Committee on Anti-Corruption, to
the WFEO Anticorruption Workshop that will be held in Brasilia on the 1st of December, in
conjunction with the WEC2008. We have been working over the past months to identify
speakers involved in several ongoing efforts worldwide addressing bribery, fraud and
corruption in engineering and construction.

We are pleased to have been able to secure a group of presenters representing the main
ongoing projects developed by several international institutions and engineering
organisations to fight against corruption, including the World Bank(Integrity Unit), the
Global ACET Project, Global Infrastructure Anti-Corruption Centre, the World Justice
Project, etc. Attendees will have the chance to watch the Ethicana movie, which tells a drama
story relating a variety of difficult decisions encountered by engineers, consultants,
contractors, suppliers and lenders involved in construction projects. Ethicana is being
developed as part of the Global ACET Project. It will be shown for the first time to a large
group of engineers representing the WFEO. A second session is scheduled in the workshop
to present regional and country initiatives, including Africa, Central/South America and
Australia.

I have spoken to several EX C members who have confirmed their participation in the
workshop, including President Barry Grear who has kindly accepted to address the
participants. I hope to see all of you. If you are not able to attend the whole workshop, I
would recommend that you participate in the first session where you will have the
opportunity to see Ethicana. Members of the Anti-Corruption Committee are also invited to
attend the committee meeting on the second of December on the after noon.

If you haven’t booked hotel room, you are requested to do it as soon as possible through the
WEC web site.You may also ask Tahani Youssef, the WEFO Executive Officer who will assist
you in any way she can. Please confirm your participation in the workshop by replying to this
