Facility Description: Located at the foot of the historic suspension bridge on the banks of the Ohio
river is a new 158,000 square foot museum facility with exhibits, theaters, cafe
and gift shop. The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center's mission is to
reveal stories about freedom's hereos, from the era of the Underground Railroad
to contemporary times, challenging and inspiring everyone to take courageous
steps for freedom today. The Freedom Center also reveals that the fight for
freedom continues to this very day, in the United States and around the world,
and that it involves all of us. We hope that visitors will be informed and inspired
by what they experience at the Freedom Center to consider how we can live and
interact with one another to make the world a better place.
