Our group would like to represent the topic that is 3 benefits

of 5 day work week. Before talking about the main content we
will tell you some information about 5 day work week in Viet
Nam.

On the seventeenth, september, 1999, the Prime Minister of

Government decided about 5 day work week that means
people would work 40 hours a week. There were 2 days off,
Sartuday and Sunday or two some days in our 7 days. All
officials, employees, labourers in the offices, in the
administrative units, in the social and political organizations
executed this decision.

So, with this policy, all labour forces in everwhere in our

country would work 5 days from that resolution. This would
open many benefits for the employees. And we just mention to
3 benefits from this decision. In the world, especially in
Europe, 5 day work week is a popular process in the advance
countries. All offices do not work on Saturday and Sunday. The
distribution will be suitable with the Western people. Because
they will have free time to relax in 2 days off at weekend.
So, the first benefit we want to talk about that is involved in
recreative aspect. In reality, Vietnamese peole worked 6 days
a week before, they spent all their time on job. It seems to
make us become less responsible with all members in our
family This is the most common condition that creates many
bad effects in our lives. But everything has changed from the
decision of the Gorvenment in 1999, eveyone can feel
interesting when thinking about 2 days off instead of having
tired and boring feeling before. Because we will relax and
enjoy the life comfortably.Relaxation always brings us many
good effects. Firstly, we will spend our spare time together
with our friends or relatives , for example, we organize a pinic
with them on Saturday and Sunday. This pinic will set a
different atmospherewhich will help us be more comfortable,
more joyful. Especially, women need more time in taking care
of their husbands and children. They will have time to prepare
may good meals for their own family with a great feeling. This
is an important element that makes their family's air become
warmer. Children will be happy when being taken care of
carefully by their parents. In their study, parents can look over
and encourage them to try their best to learn. They will take
them to entertainment areas to amuse. With men, thay can go
out with their colleagues or their raletives to talk and drink
something to enjoy and relax. In addition, the thing is very
necessary for the own labourers that they have time to satisfy
their needs better than before. We ourselves visit our friends
or we can go shopping, so on. This is really essential after
hours of toil ( giôø laøm vieäc cöïc nhoïc). Sometimes our
company holds many parties on that days off, we can
accumulate more experiences and understand more exact
about our colleagues. Also, taking part in social activities in
our local helps us be friendly with people around. All things
contribute considerably to the success in our job.

The second benefit we want to refer that is about economic

aspect.
The first we will talk about that is the government budget will
reduce considerably over that of 6 day work week before.
Normally, the government has to spend a sum of money to pay
for electricity, water, some other things, medical
spending....This payment becomes more and more higher in
the recent life. According to the statistics in some companies,
the government has to pay 1 billion VND a month for these
spendings on average. This will be changed in 5 day work
week. We will save a huge sum of money. Instead of spending
too much we can use these money to invest on another
purposes of the government. Be sure that the interest (tieàn
laõi) which we have is very much if we invest continously.
The government budget will decrease instead of increasing
before.
Secondly,before we work 6 days a week that means 48 hours a
week. We received salary with a low level. Our time spent too
much but our salary was too little. This was a main cause why
our lives' quality was too low compared with the most
countries in the same area. So, living standard was low and
was not ensured perfectly about medical care also other
services. Our economic could not develop strongly until there
was this decision from the Prime Minister in 1999. Now, we
just work 5 days a week and our income is raised higher. From
then to now, there is considerable change in our economy. We
not also solve well about the labourers' salary but also
contribute usefully to their expenditure. Because the
development of a country is partly belong to people's
expenditure.
Besides, the social evils will reduce noticeably, our country's
situation will change quickly when the problems seem not to
settle to turn out to be resolved. On the decrease about
working hours and on the increase about the salary will a
decisive condition in the economic development of the country.

The last benefits our group will represent about that is work
effect. At this aspect, we will come to the following things: an
inspiration in working, a perfect plan for the next week, no
pressure no stress.
With a long time in a week, our inspiration seems not to exist
in the job. We just know to go to the office to finish our tasks
as usual. When there are no inspiration we will have no
creativeness in our working process. Decreasing the time will
be an active state in establishing the inspiration. Our creative
ability will grow much compared with the working process
before. Our working process reduces from 48 hours to 40 hours
a week. So, work effect will increase more and more.

Drawing up a plan that helps you be more self-confident than

your job before going to the office. In 2 days off, you will think
over many plans to draw a perfect one. That perfect thought
makes you get an active effect in process of work. In Viet Nam,
there are many cases which people take advantage of time to
do another things in office hours. With a long office hours but
the volume of work is little, there are some people which
pretend not to know about their own task. With the recent
hours distribution, the short time and the suitable volume of
work will bring the satisfactory effects to the labourers in
general.

Also, we know that the pressure from job is very high if we do

not finish our huge volume of work. That pressure becomes
more and more higher if our job comes to a standstill. We will
not be afraid of that pressure if we have a good time in 2 days
off to work out a good resolution. Be sure that the effect which
we get is excellent. Besides,we will suffer from stress brought
on by overwork. Stress can affect us badly. So, we need have
the suitable working time to overcome the stress well.
Much pressures of the work causes much stresses and maybe
the pressure of the job forces us to be more hot-tempered.
This makes us become uncomfortable and tired.
So, 5 day work week has reduced the standstill ( aùch taét),the
pressure and the stress partly for us. Then our job becomes
more convenient and more efficient than ever.

In short, the benefits which we get from 5 day work week will
be an important factor to solve many problems we
encountered in the last years with 48 hours a week.
