T
he Bank – Mexican Restaurant & Bar was “a dream come true” for Craig Puma, President
of CNC Puma Corporation. Starting out in the finance business for 3 years back in mid
80’s, Craig learned a lot about numbers and the handling of money, but it was being in
sales for 20+ years that taught him the simple philosophy of The Bank… “Work hard to give every
customer the best experience possible, every time! I’d never even worked in a restaurant before”,
Craig remarked. “But I’ve eaten out a lot and I know what people want: Tasty food, great service and
a comfortable and fun atmosphere. And that’s the 3 areas we focus on every day for every customer”.

Funny enough, the “dream” was born from a bad economy and lay-offs. On September 10, 2001,
Craig was laid off from a job due to the company going through some major cut-backs and as a
newer sales manager, he was one of the first selected. “When “9/11” hit the next day, no one was
hiring.” So rather than collect unemployment, Puma started his own company selling shutters and
blinds. “It was my first business and it was a raving success, but it was never anything I was really
into. It just paid the bills.” After 2 years, Puma walked away from that company and went back to
work in corporate sales. Over the next 3 years he would go through 2 more lay-offs due to corporate
Craig Puma restructuring. In 2006 he decided enough was enough. Having his own business was the path he
would take. And while sitting in a car wash, reading “Homes and Land” magazine, he saw the ad for
a little Mexican restaurant for sale in the center of Old Town Temecula.

The owners had left the restaurant in the hands of their two children. Both had said they were a
bit worn out from the restaurant industry. They had been either helping mom and dad or running
the restaurant for 29 years. And they were only in their mid 30’s”. Thinking the idea was a little too
crazy, coupled with the fact it was looking like it could be possible to make it happened, Puma was as scared as could be. But, the
daughter of the owner, Sandra Covarrubias, offered to stay for a year and one of the servers, Blanca Nguyen was an inspirational friend
who offered to help. Raul Romero, who had worked at The Bank for years previous, would head the kitchen. Puma talked his wife into
jumping on board and moving forward with the idea. “I worked another job for 3 years while running the restaurant, relying heavily
on my wonderful wife to be the top operational person at The Bank”. The plan has worked out perfectly. Being one of the best moves of
his life, the Puma’s have now opened their second restaurant, The Tilted Cactus, in Anza, Ca. Sandra is the Manager and Raul is head
chef. The Grand Opening is set for April 22-24.

ophthalmologist named Robert N. Dunphy. “He became my lifelong mentor,” Dr. LoBue
says. “I wanted to be an ophthalmologist ever since I was 9 years old.” With such an eye for
the future, it’s no wonder LoBue Laser & Eye Medical Centers celebrates over 20 years of experience
in the Temecula Valley. Aside from his medical expertise and forward-thinking innovation, a
distinctive part of Dr. LoBue’s success is the warmth and compassion each patient receives from
him and his board-certified staff. “My inspiration is restoring vision back to my patients,” Dr. LoBue
says. “Modern cataract surgery is a medical miracle with many people experiencing dramatic visual
improvement the day after surgery. Newer technology has helped this surgery to become a relatively
fast, simple, and painless procedure. Dr. LoBue specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology and
cataract surgery, offering premier lens implants.

Dr. LoBue has always been interested in finding ways to improve the quality of life for his patients.
He is excited to introduce a cutting edge product into his practice, Ocular Support Solution, OS2,

ith over 20 years in the finance industry, Tony LoPiccolo knows
exactly what he is talking about when he is talking banking. Tony
has been with First Citizens Bank in Murrieta since December
2010. As Vice President/Financial Services Manager, Tony’s primary role is
to attract new business to the bank and help to retain existing business, all
the while helping customers grow their business. First Citizens has over 380
offices nationwide and is one of the largest family-controlled financial services
institutions in the country and is one of the top 50 banking companies in the
United States.

Headquartered in Raleigh, N.C., the bank is a major subsidiary of First Citizens

Tony BancShares Inc., which has $21 billion in assets. When Tony isn’t bringing in
LoPiccolo new accounts or taking great care of existing ones, he spends time with the
staff of the bank mentoring, training and coaching them to ensure that First
Citizens’ reputation of outstanding customer satisfaction remains intact, and
that their clientele is getting the absolute best possible service. Tony is also
active in the community. He is 3rd Vice Chair of the Lake Elsinore Chamber of Commerce, sits on the Board of Directors for Cops
for Kids, participates in the Boys Scouts of America (Tahquitz District) Advisory Committee, and is on the Membership Council
for the Elsinore Team Referral Network. Tony and his wife of 24 years, Leslie enjoy traveling, hiking, zip-lining, and spending time
with their family - which includes daughters Pamela and Meredith, son-in-law Neil and grandson Devin.

ark Anselmo has been a resident of Temecula for over 18 years and has marveled at
the amazing growth of the community - not only in numbers, but also in character
and service. He has a wonderful wife, Kathy, and two incredible sons, Anthony and
Nicholas. Mark is a Financial Advisor by trade, but was called to the non-profit world after his
son, Nicholas, was diagnosed with Autism seven years ago. He and his wife formed Our Nicholas
Foundation initially to help fund the needs of special education teachers and therapists to
purchase the tools necessary to help those diagnosed with autism. After having five “Auction for
Autism” events and multiple other fundraisers including golf tournaments, their services and
goals have now expanded. The Foundation now organizes educational forums, social groups
for both children and parents, peer buddies within the schools, sports programs (i.e. “Kick with
Nick” soccer program) and more. Their support group network now exceeds 125 families in the
Temecula Valley that meet for play dates and social activities as well. They feel this is just the
tip of the iceberg since there are over 800 families dealing with the diagnosis of autism in the
Temecula and Murrieta areas alone and now 1 in 91 children are being diagnosed. ONF is 100%
volunteer-run and Mark says he cannot thank their dedicated Board, the ONF families and the Mark Anselmo
business community enough for their continued support. ONF was honored with the Temecula
Chamber’s 2010 Service Charitable Organization of the Year and Mark was also honored in 2008
as Temecula’s Citizen of the Year. Autism Speaks has also honored ONF with the Local Heroes
Award. For more information, visit their website at www.OurNicholasFoundation.org.

Mark is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and owns a business in the Temecula Valley;
Anselmo Investment Management. Mark has been in the financial industry for over 20 years,
and specializes in corporate retirement planning and commercial insurance needs in addition to
providing individual client asset management. He takes great pride in owning an independent
financial advisory firm that is not tied to any one investment or insurance company. This allows
him to provide truly unbiased advice in all circumstances, but at the same time he has access to all
available resources for clients.

he date is December, 1996. A young Adam Bouvet is the first full-time employee of
the Mill restaurant in historic Old Town Murrieta, washing dishes and learning the
food service industry. Flash forward to 2011, and Adam is now part owner, alongside
founder Linda Westfall. In speaking with Adam, his love for this local landmark is evident. Also
clear is his dedication to and appreciation of his employees. With over 30 people working at the
restaurant, Adam could certainly spend all day commending each and every one of them - as a
matter of fact, he says that his entire staff is an extended family to each other. They work hard
and treat the business as their own, which gives Adam peace of mind when he is away that
the employees care as much about the Mill as he does. With the restaurant and his Real Estate
business, Adam stays hopping, and he’s not always able to be present at the Mill. He wants
to publicly acknowledge his kitchen staff for the great work they do. John Strange - with the
Mill for 10 years, who powers through the busy breakfast traffic every weekend and has not
missed a breakfast shift in over three years. Matt, Tony, Glenn, Brandon and Michael ... these
guys keep things running backstage, and Adam wishes to express his most sincere appreciation
to them, the behind-the-scenes dynamos that create the delicious meals that one anticipates
when visiting the Mill. Most of the Mill’s employees are referrals, family members, or long-term
customers - Adam doesn’t have to look for people to work there - they come to him. He says that
Adam Bouvet his amazing team gives the term “Family Restaurant” a whole new meaning. Adam especially
appreciates the fact that his employees all want to be at work - they enjoy their jobs and the
people they work with, evidenced by team “road trips” to various sporting events during the
year. This is also apparent to the customer - front-line employees are always smiling, helpful and
tend to remember your “usual.” The Mill is truly a gem in Murrieta, the city called “The Gem
of the Valley.”

and web design, as well as marketing and public relations.

Early in life, Justin remembers being told by a high school art teacher to find a career in
art, because she knew Justin would not be happy doing anything else. After working his way
in retail to a rather high-paying position at an early age, Justin realized she was absolutely
right. It was at that point Justin decided to go back to school to pursue his dream. Justin won
his first national graphic design award only one year out of college. Since then, Justin has
been on the fast track for success winning more than sixteen awards, both nationally and
internationally, for his design work spanning over his eleven year career. Justin and his team
have made a name for themselves in the advertising world, winning multiple national design
awards against such powerhouses like Coca-Cola and Tiffany & Co. Justin has also worked
with several local organizations throughout the years including the Temecula Valley Chamber
of Commerce and Temecula Valley Convention & Visitor’s Bureau.

Since starting The Creative Bar three years ago, Justin has firmly established himself as a
highly qualified and skilled brander and designer for clients like the City of Temecula, Monte
Justin Lawler de Oro Winery and the Temecula YMCA. Justin prides his company on being top-notch and
unlike any other agency out there. Working closely with their clients throughout the entire
process, The Creative Bar ensures that the marketing campaign is as effective as possible with
eye-catching and relevant graphics, strategic company branding, and they work to create
websites that are complementary to the business while representing and appealing to its target
audience. A one-stop-shop, Justin and The Creative Bar can do it all, and they are very good
at it. Justin is also very involved within the community, supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of
Southwest County, the Temecula Special Games, and the Heart Association Walk.

In a regular family, balancing business and family can be a task A BRILLIANT

business and custody and how does your work schedule impact
the judge’s decision? In California, it is improper for the court
to base a custody decision on a parent’s work schedule. In In re

proceeding, basing its decision on the mother’s ability to care
for the children at home because she did not work, whereas the
father had to work full-time and place the children in day care.
The appellate court reversed the trial court’s decision, finding
that the trial court’s reliance on the mother’s ability to stay
home, in contrast to the father’s need to work, “was improper
and constituted an abuse of discretion.” The law recognizes
that reliance upon the asserted superiority of a parent’s child

parents. A custody determination must be based upon a true

The approval meant that Galway Downs Equestrian Center,

first established in 1968, is not only included with the superstar
eventing sites in England and the east coast of the United States,
it is the very first equestrian facility on the West Coast to ever
receive the coveted status. But the change in ranking has been
a long time in coming,” said Kellerhouse, who began managing
the equestrian center in the late-1990s.

“We had been hosting CCI2** events since 1999, but we had
been hosting so many shows and increasing the difficulty levels
in the course all along,” he said, adding that the equestrian
“eventing” star ratings are assigned by levels of difficulty in
completing dressage, jumping and cross-country programs.
“So it just made sense to request that a 3*** be held here. I was
thrilled when the FEI gave the approval.”

According to Kellerhouse, some highly ranked riders and

horses who participate in the CCI3*** events often go on to
make it to the rarified level of the Olympic equestrian team.

Both elegant and dramatic, eventing is not for the faint of

heart for rider or horse, as either of them could sustain serious
injuries during competition. And for the spectator, this sport is
equally exciting to watch, since one single rail knocked down
during a jump can change the final standings dramatically.

In addition to the CCI3*** eventing competition in the

fall, Galway Downs Equestrian Center hosts another major
international equestrian event in March, as well as numerous
other competitions throughout the year. It is costly to put on
the equestrian events, so officials at the center are excited about
