PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT TRAINING CENTER (PDTC)

Over the past 20 years, Bala Vikasa has gained
a wealth of knowledge in implementing
projects and programs that have dramatically
changed the lives of millions. To share this
knowledge and to enhance the capacities and
skills of community development workers, the
People Development Training Center (PDTC)
was established in 2002. Training Programs
are sponsored by SOPAR and supported financially by Canadian
International Development Agency.

The conceptual training framework of PDTC, is essentially based on the

Community Development field experience of Bala Vikasa, which follows
an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, and is
monitored through a Result Based Management (RBM) process. PDTC
has the State of the Art facilities, and combined with the expertise of
development specialists, it conducts training programs, seminars and
workshops for community based national and international development
organizations.

Vision
PDTC long for a just and peaceful society in which each individual and
each community is empowered and self-reliant; where all enjoy human
dignity, equal rights and equal opportunities.
Mission
To facilitate the process of capacity building of the “Agents of Change”
at the grassroots:
- through training based on Bala Vikasa field experience
- by imparting knowledge, changing mindsets and attitudes and
enhancing abilities and skills
- by creating awareness on development issues, within India and the
world at large
- by inculcating a process of continuous reflection on societal issues
- by encouraging research and documentation of existing realities to
determine appropriate community development initiatives (A Research-
Action process)
- through advocacy and networking with like-minded government and
non-government organizations.
