The main aim of the contest is to have fun and promote robotics. Competitors who do not understand the spirit of the game or who break rules of fair play will be excluded from the game. Article 2 – Game system The contest consist of two stages: the elimination round, and the final round. Robots will pass a circuit in predefined order in each round. The shortest lap time decides about robot placing. Article 3– Passage definition A passage objective is to complete the route in the shortest period of time. Article 4– Passage schedule The passage schedule for elimination round is to be decided by the referees on the contest day, after the participants list closing. Chapter 2 – Participation conditions Article 5 – Team definition Participation in the competition is allowed only for teams which registered for participation in an predetermined form and appointed time. The team may consist of utmost 4 members. Chapter 3 – Track Specification Article 5 – Track definition A black, up to 2 cm wide line placed on the light background sets the track. List of the elements which will be the parts of a route will be given at least 2 weeks prior the competition. Article 6 – Passage area definition A rectangle enclosing whole route sets the passage area. It will be defined at the same time as the exact route. Chapter 4 – Robot Specification Article 8 – Robot characteristic • The main robot outline has to fit on the A4 paper sheet. • Robot weight is unlimited. • Robot can be autonomous. However, Communication with robot during the game is allowed. • Robot should be designed to be able to be started after a sign given by the referee. • The operation of a robot cannot depend on the lightning conditions, which may change during the event (from half- light to spotlight), smoke, loud music or laser effects. Traditional light bulbs, halogen light bulbs, energy-saving light bulbs, fluorescent lamps, LED or other sources of light may be in use during the event. The organizers have no influence on street lightning near the venue. The use of flashes and other bright light sources during the event will be prohibited. Chapter 5 – Game rules Article 9 – Passage start By the referee’s indication participants place their robots on the start line before the passage start. Robots should be activated after referee’s sign. Article 10 – Line losing Any robot that loses the line course must reacquire the line at the point where it was lost, or at any earlier point. Article 10 – Times • Robot has 3 minutes time limit to complete the passage. A robot that cannot complete the course in the allotted time will be disqualified. • The time is measured from the time the robot crosses the start line until the time the robot crosses the finish line. A robot is deemed to have crossed the finish line when any of its part contacts or crosses this line. LINE FOLLOWING ROBOTS COMPETITION RULES 2 • The time is measured by an electronic gate system or by a judge with a stopwatch, based on the availability of equipment. In either case the recorded time shall be final. • The electronic gate system construction contain three sensors, on 1, 3 and 5 centimeters above the track. A robot is deemed to have crossed the finish line when at least one of sensors signalized it. Chapter 6 - Offences and penalties Article 11 – False start When any robot taking part in a passage crosses the start line before the referee’s signal, the passage is interrupted and resumed from the beginning. Article 12 – Disqualification • A robot that wanders off the passage area will be disqualified. • A robot that false starts twice in one passage will be disqualified. Chapter 7 – Objections Article 13 – Objections to referee It is not allowed to object to referee's decisions. Article 14 – Objections to regulations Competitor who objects to rules has to explain it to the Competition Committee fully before the end of the event. Chapter 8 – Unmentioned rules Article 15 – Competition rules exceptions and modifications Modifications and exceptions to the regulations are considered by the gathering of the Organizers.
