Abstract:-

Descriptive research is designed to describe the characteristics or behaviors of a

particular population in a systematic and accurate fashion.

Descriptive research papers aim at providing the reasonable description of things,

persons or events in details. The term “descriptive research papers” informs us on the
double nature of this kind of academic paper. It is the scientific investigation, where we
have to use our creativeness in combination with critical and analytical thinking.

Descriptive research is the exploration of the existing certain phenomena. The details of
the facts won’t be known. The existing phenomena’s facts are not known to the
persons.
The main goal of this type of research is to describe the data and characteristics about
what is being studied.
Descriptive research is mainly done when a researcher wants to gain a better
understanding of a topic It is quantitative and uses surveys and panels and also the use
of probability sampling. Although the data description is factual, accurate and
systematic, the research cannot describe what caused a situation. Thus, Descriptive
research cannot be used to create a causal relationship, where one variable affects
another. In other words, descriptive research can be said to have a low requirement
forinternal validity.
Descriptive research design is a scientific method which involves observing and
describing the behavior of a subject without influencing it in any way. Descriptive
research is the type of research that explores and describes the data or characteristics
needed for the research.

Descriptive research methods is less expensive and time consuming

than quantitative experiments. It Collects a large amount of data for detailed studying.
As it is used to describe and not make any conclusions it is easier to start the research
with it; and It can identify further area of study.

Descriptive Research

1:- Refers to the nature of the research question.

2:- The design of the research.

3:- The way that data will be analyzed for the topic that will be researched

The type of research question will determine whether descriptive research approach IS
appropriate to use.

Descriptive Research Characteristics of a Good Survey

1:- Good questioning techniques

2:- Use complete sentences

3:- Offer a limited set of answers

4:- Provide definitions for confusing terms

The main advantage of descriptive research is that the subject is being observed in a
completely natural and unchanged environment.

The main disadvantage of descriptive research is that the result of observational studies
are not repeatable and so there can be no replication of the experiment and reviewing
of the results.
Summary:-

Descriptive research designs can be used in both quantitative and qualitive research
projects. Descriptive research design is a valid method for researching specific subjects
and as a precursor to more quantitative studies. The main objective of this type of study
is to acquire the answer to the question like who, what, when, where and how in
connection with the particular subject
