Updates from Stephanie
Spring is almost here and with
this time of new growth, Lit-
eracy Services is looking to
expand its reach into the
community and to better con-
nect with our Literacy Volun-
teers.
Last year we received a grant
for Workforce and Literacy
Improvement that allowed
SPL to purchase laptops to
help serve our community
with job searches and basic
computer education. We are
looking to get these laptops
out to various branches and
community events to help
Book Club: Baseball Fever!
At our March Book Club
meeting we discussed the
first 100 pages of W.P. Kin-
sella’s inspiring fantasy novel,
Shoeless Joe. The story re-
volves around the theme of
baseball and going after your
dreams. Students and Tu-
tors are planning to attend a

Thanks to the Tutors who helped your Adult Learners
fill out their ALLI (Adult Learner Leadership Institute)
application. We look forward to a successful program
on 4/30-5/1 in Sacramento. Please encourage your stu-
dents to take part in these free programs as they come
up. This weekend event is intended to help Adult Learn-
ers grow as a student through confidence building ex-
periences. Thanks to the CA State Library for funding
and ensuring this program continues during tough
budget times.
