It was 1989, as I was now saved and
searching for God’s will for my life, I went
on a life changing retreat in Blue
Mountain PA. I went there seeking God
on what I should do with the rest of my
life, I was in my 30’s, and had come out of
a life of drugs, alcohol and then a few
years of sobriety.
God clearly spoke to me during that
retreat about a new ministry called New
York City Relief that was starting up.
WOW, I thought, I can DO this! I
followed up and within a year of this
encounter, I sold my house in Clark, NJ,
and joined NYCR full time as an URBAN
MISSIONARY.
Previously based in Long Island, we
soon moved into an old hotel in Elizabeth,
owned by Calvary Tabernacle, and shared
by Youth With A Mission. There I was,

my own support, living completely by
faith. This was also the beginning of my
relationship with Calvary Tabernacle.
There I met my wife Stephanie, her
daughter then 10 years old. We married
and embarked on out Missionary journey
together, having Rebekah a year later. We
have been in the mission ever since,
raising our own support, (salary) all this
time. Some will remember my time as a
staff pastor at Calvary Tabernacle, where
I was the Director Of Pastoral Care, as
well as the Missions Pastor. I had the
privilege of doing much of the counseling
in the church, helping establish the
Stephen Ministry, the Hospital Ministry,
teaching, and preaching occasionally as
well. All this while I was still full time with
The Relief Bus. I also went back to school
prior to my Calvary experience, and
received my Bachelors Degree in
Christian Counseling.
During all this we have depended on
churches and individuals like you, who
believe in what we do in building the

support system. Churches including
Calvary support us as well. Every staff
member is required to raise their own
support, there are no “salaries” in the real
sense. There is a stipend and health
insurance, but no full salaries. On the
