“When I think of my childhood, I think of reading first. Books were my sacred

companions and characters in my favorite books felt like my best friends. Stories held
near magical power, shaping the person I am today—from my passion for history and
politics to my dream of becoming an author.”

the newest Read For A Cause curator.

Her collection holds a great variety of reads, ranging from the novel “Plainsong” by
Kent Haruf, which deals with grief and anger, to Andre Agassi’s autobiography, “Open”.

“Reading gives us an understanding of history, politics, science, faith, and every

aspect of human emotion and experience, enlightening us, transforming us, and
connecting us to one another. I can’t fathom a world without books and reading—and
believe that the written word is as important to our minds and souls, as food and water
is to our bodies. “
