1.0 To access the IIUM E-learning & Online Community Portal, go to the following
website address:
http://elearn.iiu.edu.my
The opening page contains a welcome message, a login panel and other information.
2.0 To log-in, key-in your USER ID and PASSWORD in the login panel (See Figure
2), and then click on the “Login” button. Your USER ID is your matric number
followed by the “@” sign and your kulliyyah domain, followed by “iium.net”.
Your PASSWORD is your PIN number, assigned to you by the ANR. It is the
same PIN number that you use to ADD/DROP courses and to check your results
online. Table 1 below shows the domains for all Kulliyyahs.
For example:
Matric number = 0123456
Kulliyyah = AIKOL
USER ID = 0123456@aikol.iium.net

3.0 If you are logging in for the first time, you will get a message as shown below:

4.0 This is the IIUM online community portal, also known as AIMS (Advanced
Information Management System). Here is where you can change your password.
In the next section, we will show you how to do this.
1.0 To change your password, at the AIMS desktop, click on the “Settings” button (
Settings). You can find the “Settings” button at the top most menu, besides the
“Help” and “Logout” buttons, as shown in Figure 5 below.

2.0 You will get the “User Setting and Information” page, as shown in Figure 6
below. Here you can change your personal information and update your profile.
3.0 Under the “Settings Menu” on the left, click on the “Change Password”, link (See
Figure 7).

4.0 In the “Change User Password” page (Figure 8), key-in your current password
and your new password twice. Then click on the save ( ) button. In the next
section, we will show you how to access the e-learning portal.

C. HOW TO ACCESS THE E-LEARNING PORTAL
1.0 At the AIMS desktop, click on the “e-Learning” button as shown in Figure 9
below.
2.0 Again, if this is your first time, you will get “My Profile” page as shown in Figure
10 below. Proceed to fill-in the compulsory fields (*). You have to update your
profile at least once before you can use the e-learning portal.
3.0 When you are done, scroll down and click on the button. Please take
note that, the “Postcode” field accepts numbers only. If you key-in numbers and
alphabets or other symbols, when you click on the “Modify” button, you will get
an error message as shown in Figure 9 below. Re-enter numbers only for the
postcode field and click on the “Modify” button to update your profile.
4.0 If you have successfully updated your profile, you will get the following page, as
shown in Figure 10 below.
5.0 Now click on the button at the top menu. You will see the My Desktop
page as shown in Figure 11 below. In the next section we will show you how to
subscribe to portfolios/courses and access your online portfolios/courses.

1.0 If you have registered for a course using the online ADD/DROP facility, the
portfolio or course will appear on the “My Desktop” page, under the column
“Portfolios Subscribed”, as shown in Figure 12 below. To access the portfolio,
click on the “Enter” button. A portfolio is an object that is created by portfolio
owners. Students or other users can subscribe to these portfolios. A portfolio can
be a course, an association, a committee, a project team, or a group of people that
share a common interest.
2.0 If you are not subscribed to any portfolios, to subscribe, click on the
button at the top menu. You will get the Resources page as shown in Figure 13
below. The Resources page lists all the online portfolios available in the e-
learning portal. Key-in your Portfolio Code and click on the “Submit” button.

3.0 If the portfolio code matches any portfolio in the resources, the portfolio
information will be displayed. To subscribe to the portfolio, click on the
“Subscribe” button. You will get a message as shown in Figure 14 below. Click
on the “OK” button.
A moderated portfolio is one that the portfolio owner sets so that only genuine
students or allowed users are able to enter the portfolio. Once you have subscribed
to a moderated portfolio and click on the “My Desktop” button. You will see the
portfolio you have just subscribed to appearing on your desktop, under the
column “Portfolios Subscribed”. However, notice that your “User Status” is
“Pending”, as shown in Figure 17 below. This means you cannot access the
portfolio until the portfolio owner, i.e. your lecturer changes your user status from
“Pending” to “Enable”. Inform your lecturer regarding this matter.

5.0 Once your lecturer has changed your user status to “Enable”, you can access the
portfolio by clicking on the “Enter” button or by clicking on the course title as
shown in Figure 18 below. Now you are ready to start accessing your online
portfolio/course. Happy Learning!.
