This topic describes how to configure BSC clocks for the synchronization of boards in each
subrack.
NOTE
Prerequisite
l The GEIUA/GOIUA in the GTCS is configured.
l The A interface E1 in the GTCS is configured.
Preparation
NOTE
This part describes how to configure two line clocks on the GEIUA in the GTCS.
Table 7-1 Example of data to be negotiated and planned for configuring the clock one line 0 for
the GTCS
Table 7-2 Example of data to be negotiated and planned for configuring the clock on line 1 for
the GTCS
Procedure
Step 1 On the BSC6000 Local Maintenance Terminal, right-click the edge of the GTCS. A shortcut
menu is displayed, as shown in Figure 7-1.
Step 2 Choose Configure Line Clock. A dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 7-2.
NOTE
When configuring a line clock, you can select a Backup Port No.. When the A interface E1 connecting
the port of the selected Board Port No. incurs a fault, the GTCS can extract the line clock from the A
interface E1 connecting the port of the selected Backup Port No..
l Board Slot No.: Number of the slot where the GEIUA/GOIUA configured with the A interface E1 is
located.
l Board Port No.: Number of the port connected to one A interface E1 on the GEIUA/GOIUA
l Backup Port No.: Number of the port connected to another A interface E1 on the GEIUA
Step 3 Set the parameters according to the data listed in Table 7-1.
Step 4 Click Add. The configuration of the clock on LINE0 for the GTCS is complete.
Step 6 Select LINE1 and set the parameters according to the data listed in Table 7-2. Figure 7-3 shows
the dialog box.
Step 7 Click Add. The configuration of the clock on LINE1 for the GTCS is complete.
Step 8 Repeat Step 1 through Step 7 to configure the line clock for each GTCS.
----End
Prerequisite
l The GSCU in the GTCS is configured.
l The line clock in the GTCS is configured.
Preparation

Procedure
Step 1 On the BSC6000 Local Maintenance Terminal, right-click the edge of the GTCS. A shortcut
menu is displayed, as shown in Figure 7-4.
Step 2 Choose Configure 8K Reference Clock. A dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 7-5.
Step 3 Set the parameters according to the data listed in Table 7-3.

NOTE
l The line clock of the GMPS must be configured on the Ater connection path of the GMPS.
l On the GEIUT, two line clocks can be configured. On the GOIUT, only one line clock can be configured
and the line clock must be configured on port 0 on the GOIUT.
Prerequisite
l The GEIUT/GOIUT in the GMPS is configured.
l The GGCU in the GMPS is configured.
l The Ater connection path of the GMPS is configured.
Preparation
NOTE
This part describes how to configure two line clocks on the GEIUT in the GMPS.
Table 7-4 Example of data to be negotiated and planned for configuring the clock on line 0 for
the GMPS
Table 7-5 Example of data to be negotiated and planned for configuring the clock on line 1 for
the GMPS
Procedure
Step 1 On the BSC6000 Local Maintenance Terminal, right-click the edge of the GMPS. A shortcut
menu is displayed, as shown in Figure 7-6.
Step 2 Choose Configure Line Clock. A dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 7-7.
NOTE
When configuring a line clock, you can select a Backup Port No.. When the Ater connection path
connecting the port of the selected Board Port No. incurs a fault, the GMPS can extract the line clock
from the Ater connection path connecting the port of the selected Backup Port No..
l Board Slot No.: Number of the slot where the GEIUT/GOIUT configured with the Ater connection
path is located.
l Board Port No.: Number of the port connected to one Ater connection path on the GEIUT/GOIUT
l Backup Port No.: Number of the port connected to another Ater connection path on the GEIUT.
Step 3 Set the parameters according to the data listed in Table 7-4.
Step 4 Click Add. The configuration of the clock on LINE0 for the GMPS is complete.
Step 5 Repeat Step 1 through Step 2 to configure the clock on LINE1.
Step 6 Select LINE1 and set the parameters according to the data listed in Table 7-5. Figure 7-8 shows
the dialog box.
Step 7 Click Add. The configuration of the clock on LINE1 for the GMPS is complete.

NOTE
l The system clock has four priorities: priority 1 to priority 4, from the highest to the lowest.
l When the BITS clock is provided, it should be configured as the system clock and enjoys the highest
priority.
l The source number of a clock represents the priority of the clock.
Prerequisite
l The GGCU in the GMPS is configured.
l The BITS clock is ready, or the line clock for the GMPS is configured.
Preparation
Table 7-6 Example of data to be negotiated and planned for configuring the system clock
Parameter Example Source
Procedure
Step 1 On the BSC6000 Local Maintenance Terminal, right-click BSC6000. A shortcut menu is
displayed, as shown in Figure 7-9.
Step 2 Choose Configure System Clock. A dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 7-10.
CAUTION Source Type and Work Mode cannot be configured in one operation.
You have to configure them separately. After configuring Source Type, exit the configuration
wizard, and then enter the configuration wizard again to configure Work Mode.
Step 3 Set the parameters according to the data listed in Table 7-6.
