Introduction to Industrial Relation:


The concept of industrial relation means the relationship between employees and management is
the day to day working of industry. But in the wider sense industrial relation is a “set of fictional
interdependence involving historical, economic, socialpsychologgical, demographic,
technological, and occupational political and legal variables.

Industrial relations is a multidisciplinary field that studies the employment relationship Industrial
relations is increasingly being called employment relations because of the importance of non-industrial
employment relationships. The relationship between Employer and employee or trade unions is
called Industrial Relation. Harmonious relationship is necessary for both employers and
employees to safeguard the interests of the both the parties of the production.

Industrial Relation do not emerge in vacuum they are born of employment relationship in
an industrial setting. Without the existence of the two parties, i.e. labor and management, this
relationship cannot exist. It is the industry, which provides the environment for industrial
relations. Personnel management is mainly concerned with the human relation in industry
because the main theme of personnel management is to get the work done by the human power
and it fails in its objectives if good industrial relation is maintained. In other words good
Industrial Relation means industrial peace which is necessary for better and higher productions.

Mahindra and Mahindra:


Mahindra embarked on its journey in 1945 by assembling the Willys Jeep in India. It
employs over 1,00,000 people across the globe and enjoys a leadership position in utility
vehicles, tractors and information technology, with a significant and growing presence in
financial services, tourism, infrastructure development, trade and logistics.

Nagpur plant was established in August 1970, to manufacturing of


Hydraulic Control Valve Assembly was started. Subsequently, a few assemblies such as Breaks
Assembly, Oil pumps assembly etc were also started in Nagpur.
Problem Definition:
The industrial relation is important to maintain between workers and
management. Harmonious relationship is necessary for both employees to safeguard the interest
of the both parties of the production.

Objectives:
1. To study the relationship between the trade union and management.

2. To see what role plays the industrial relation in safeguard the industrial
relation.

3. To understand the importance of industrial relation in industries.

Scope:
1. It helps to know that how industrial relation works in the organization to
maintain the relation between the workers and management.

2. It helps to the organization to know how their industrial relation performs


for betterment

Research methodology:
• Hypothesis:
a) Satisfaction directly affects the industrial relation in an
organization.

b) Awareness of the laws and government policies makes employee


understand industrial relation in detail.

• Data collection:
a) Primary: Structured interview, questionnaire

b) Secondary: Books,Journals,Newspaper,Net
• Research Designs:
Conceptive analysis of industrial relation in Mahindra and Mahindra is descriptive
study.

Limitation:
a) This study related to Mahindra and Mahindra limited Nagpur.

b) This project is limited to industrial relation department.
