Location of Doshi and Charikar
DSH
Background - Doshi Substation

ƒ Doshi is a 220/20 kV Substation for distributing power at 20 kV.

‰ Will be supplied by the PUL to CHM 220 kV dble cct Tx line
‰ Will provide 20 kV to households within approximately 60 km radius of
Doshi
‰ Will have a single 5 MVA 220/20 kV transformer installed

ƒ 5 MVA 220/20 kV Transformer will enable:

‰ 8,300 households to be supplied at 600 VA per household peak demand
(ADMD)
‰ 5,000 households to be supplied at 1,000 VA per household peak demand
‰ These figures exclude possible industrial, commercial and agricultural
load

Doshi Substation – Key Features

• Outdoor 220 kV double bus, conventional technology, low

cost with good reliability and serviceability
• Single 220/20 kV 5 MVA transformer with space allowed for
up to 2 x 16 MVA transformers to be added at a later date
• Indoor 20 kV metalclad bus and switchgear, to be located in a
switchgear room adjacent to the control room
• Control room includes heating and cooling, lighting, water and
sanitary supply
• Full SCADA and remote CSCS control allowed for, with
network communication via OPGW
• Technical specifications, schedules of quantities, technical
schedules and budget cost have been prepared

Background – Charikar Substation

ƒ Charikar is a 220/20 kV Substation for distributing power at 20 kV.

‰ Will be supplied by the PUL to CHM 220 kV dble cct Tx line
‰ Will provide 20 kV to households within approximately 60 km radius of
Doshi
‰ Will have two 16 MVA 220/20 kV transformer installed

ƒ 2 x 16 MVA 220/20 kV Transformers will enable:

‰ 53,000 households to be supplied at 600 VA per household peak
demand (ADMD)
‰ 32,000 households to be supplied at 1,000 VA per household peak
demand
‰ These figures exclude possible industrial, commercial and agricultural
load

Charikar Substation – Key Features

• Outdoor 220 kV double bus, conventional technology, low

cost with good reliability and serviceability
• Two 220/20 kV 16 MVA transformers with a capacity to be
subsequently up-rated as the load develops
• N-1 Reliability - Failure of one transformer will not mean a loss of
supply
• Indoor 20 kV metalclad bus and switchgear, to be located in a
switchgear room adjacent to the control room; two incomers
and two local service transformers 20/0.4 kV (n-1 reliability)
• Control room includes heating and cooling, lighting, water and
sanitary supply
• Full SCADA and remote CSCS control allowed for, with
network communication via OPGW
• Technical specifications, schedules of quantities, technical
schedules and budget cost have been prepared
