ASSIGNMENT 1
Project Management

George has faced some ethical dilemmas which are mentioned below:
1. He was in dilemma whether he should remove the filter and allow 500
gallons for processing due to shortage of time or he should follow the
interest of Paul’s which is to complete the orders , clan the pipes and just
finish the shift .
2. He was in dilemma whether he should allow such spoiled milkshake to
reach to restaurants and kids, the milkshake has maggots in them and this
can cause serious health issues. This can also lead unsatisfied customer and
they can also take action against Eastern dairy which will involve health
inspector, this will definitely harm the brand.
3. The other dilemma was company money and mixes if gorge remove the
filters and allow the machine run, removal of filter will save a lot of money
and other than this they will also be spared from the trouble of informing
the company’s management and their interrogation
4. 4th dilemma was whether he should sacrifice his morals, and allow that
milkshake to be catered in the market. If he listens to his morals and ignore
Paul’s order he can save the goodwill and the health of customer , which
means his morality lead him in becoming an ethical person
5. 5th dilemma was if he goes against Paul’s decision, then there is a greater
chance the work environment which is very soothing till now can be
affected, other workers can also create problems for him in a long term
which will lead George to leave the job and can also create hindrance to
his plan of saving money in summers.

What would I do?
I would not have removed the filters and I have instantly stopped the processing
of milkshake. And as soon processing is stopped I would have informed the higher
authorities. I would also request the to dump those remaining maggots infected
500 gallons and I will also tell them that this would not be good for the companies
goodwill as it is going to create harmful health issues with customers after
drinking the product, if they are not ready to incur this loss then I will suggest
them to remove maggots from the milkshake and insure the safety of the
customer because customer satisfaction is very important for sustainability
Consequences:
1. This process can be time-taking because pipes will be cleaned again & the
decision should be taken in a way which can cater the interest of everyone
2. Night product target can be hindered as the production process being on
haul because of the current situation
3. An investigation can be initiated, which will lead to consume more time and
ofcurse some efforts also
4. Delay in pipe cleaning because of investigation
5. Cost to company will increase for the time being the plant is not functioning
and the fixed cost of running the company has to be taken by the company
6. The other workers may not be happy with this decision as we have seen
Paul’s interest was in finishing the target which was scheduled for the night
and finishing the shift on time.
7. Due to this situation night shift can be long for few hours as the top
management is involved now and they will like to interrogate all the
workers to understand the clear situation
8. Again due to the previous delay at night, processing of day will be delayed
and there is a great chance that day gallons can also have maggots in them
and the eastern dairy will have to investigate them.
9. As the orders are not produced , customer orders can delayed or there can
be shortage for the next day and we are not aware how much time the
investigation will take and before restarting the process dairy has to make
sure other gallons does not have maggots in them and these things can
lead to late start of processing .

10.And if this information gets leaked in the market then it can cause harmful
effect on the brand as well as there is very high chances that health
department can investigate the quality of the product and if not found
suitable then it will lead to legal action against the company
For preventing such events in future, management should:
1. Make strict rules and regulation to ensure the quality of food , because it’s
all about the brand image of the company if it gets destroyed then it will be
very harmful for the image of the company
2. They can also assign a manager who can take such decision without
compromising his ethics
3. Company can make a committee , which can look in such matters on a very
rapid pace and can also release a notice that the customer heath should be
their primary priority
