Tribal DDB Canada hires new director of digital strategy


Nikolas Badminton leads digital and social strategy for Vancouver-based clients

Vancouver, March 7, 2011 –Tribal DDB Canada, the integrated digital and social marketing
arm of DDB Canada, is pleased to announce that Nikolas Badminton has joined the Vancouver
office as director of digital strategy. In his new role, Badminton leads the planning and strategy
team responsible for creating the digital and social strategies for Tribal DDB Vancouver clients,
including the Canadian Tourism Commission, BC Hydro and the University of British Columbia.

With 15-years of traditional and digital marketing experience in consumer and business-to-
business markets, Badminton has delivered award-winning client programs across a range of
categories including, travel, consumer packaged goods, finance, telecommunications,
entertainment and technology. Badminton worked independently for the past year with the
United Nations and various non-profit organizations to build connected online communities.
Prior to that he was the strategy director at Blast Radius, where he worked with Microsoft,
AT&T, Electronic Arts and Kiwi Collection in building world-class digital engagement platforms.

“Nik has developed innovative digital and social strategies, which have fostered persistent
online consumer engagement for an impressive list of clients,” says Marty Yaskowich, managing

Badminton is a graduate of Bournemouth University and has a degree in Applied Psychology


and Computing, where he studied the early rise of the Internet, computer supported
communications (the forerunner to modern social networks), and artificial intelligence in relation
to natural language systems.

“With my foundation in traditional business strategy and experience straddling both traditional
and digital marketing, I have the ability to understand the needs of clients on multiple levels and
implement digital programs that deliver transformation and results,,” says Badminton. “I also
come from the world of data and insights, which is integrated into all thinking and strategies that
are defined. It’s not just reporting, but true, actionable insights that lead to execution and
continual optimization of our clients’ businesses and digital programs.”

Badminton provides thought leadership on mobile marketing, social media outreach, behavior
targeted direct marketing, and the intersection of traditional and digital marketing to trade media
via frequent conference presentations.

On March 12th 2011, Badminton will speak at SXSW Interactive in Austin about the future of
mobile tagging at the PSFK Salon Future of Mobile Marketing event.
