RESUMO
ÍNDIOS,
Trata do desenvolvimento sustentável median-
te a análise da legislação nacional e de con-
venções/resoluções internacionais sobre a

proteção ao meio ambiente e aos índios, cuja
diversidade étnico-cultural tem de ser respei-
tada em todas as suas dimensões, conforme
a Convenção 169/OIT e demais normas ga-

ABSTRACT
The author deals with the sustainable development through
analysis of domestic law and international conventions/decisions
concerning protection of the environment and of Indians, whose
ethical-cultural diversity must be respected in all their dimensions,
according to the ILO Convention n. 169 and other rules that
guarantee their rights.
He ascertains that such issues – Indians and the environment
– should be faced considering the human right to development,
established by UNO decision of 1986, which complies nowadays
environmental protection, economic growth as well as social equity.
At last, he states that the balance between environmental
protection and defense of the Indian minorities’ rights will achieve
the desired sustainable development, concerning present and
future generations.
