1. This chapter indicates that food security is within reach, if urban areas are designed to
save,
reuse and recycle nutrients in organic waste. Such systems create a win-win situation by
also reducing health risks for humans and minimising polluting emissions to water bodies
 and greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. But, such a change is unlikely to come about by
itself.
2. Agricultural ecosystem or agroecosystem is a conventional unit of the well-known
biological ecosystems. It is an artificial ecosystem under direct human impact.
Agroecosystem constitutes of soil, soil dwelling microorganisms, plant types, their
pollinators, predators of agricultural pests, prevailing genetic diversity of food crops and
the dependent animals (Swift and Anderson 1994). Agricultural ecosystem not only
supports the food crops, but also serves as an efficient habitat for wild plant types. Wild
plant species are bank of valuable genetic resource, hence, their maintenance in
agroecosystem offers gene bank for supporting plant breeding to sustain the productivity
and produce in global climate change.

penyerbuk, predator hama pertanian, keanekaragaman genetik tanaman

pertanian tidak hanya mendukung tanaman pangan, tetapi juga berfungsi
sebagai habitat yang efisien untuk jenis tanaman liar. Liarspesies tumbuhan
adalah bank dari sumber daya genetik yang berharga, oleh karena itu,
pemeliharaannya dalam agroekosistem menawarkan bank gen untuk
mendukung pemuliaan tanaman untuk mempertahankan produktivitas dan
menghasilkan perubahan iklim global.
