visibile.

the project itself through models on a large scale and different

historical-humanistic Shutter Island (2010).

Contemporary Production Design: the “second school” of Cinecittà
In the organization of a film production, the Production Designer
is responsible for the film’s visual coherence. This entails translat-

inventing. The original proposal of the “second school” of Ci-

a “mixed” type of set, which then allows, in post-production, for

aims to trace the history of this group of Production Designers

Metodi quantitativi per l’analisi del territorio

Quantitative Methods
for the Analysis of the Territory
Paolo Giordano

The course introduces students to the basic methods of statistics

and the mathematical models used in the study of the territory
and its dynamics: growth models of populations in demograph-
ics and ecology, dynamic models of development of the territory,
models of traffic and pedestrian mobility and methods of configu-
rational analysis. During the semester a workshop on configura-
tional analysis will be held for a total of eight hours, with students
developing an urban planning or macro-architectural case study
of their choice. Configurational analysis is an instrument em-
ployed to investigate the structure of a spatial system (for example
the territory or an architectural project) seen as a set of parts in
reciprocal relationship and to explore the relationship between
the form and function of space.
