Emerging Technology Assignment 2 ( Focus on Chap 2, 3 & 4 )

Name MARTA DEREJE ID-UU80884R Dep't--ARCHITECTURE Sec-N5B

1. What is the difference in between data science and data analytics?

Ans
Data analytics is more specific and concentrated than data science. Data
analytics focuses more on viewing the historical data in context while data
science focuses more on machine learning and predictive modeling. ... On
the other hand, data analytics involves a few different branches of broader
statistics and analysis
2. Why do we need processing data?

ANS

Because data processing includes increased productivity and profits, better

decisions, more accurate and reliable. Further cost reduction, ease in storage,
distributing and report making followed by better analysis and
presentation are other advantages

3.What is metadata and give five examples of a metadata.

Ans

 Metadata is data that describes other data. For example, file name,

 type,
 size,
 creation date and time,
 last modification date and time.

4.How data could be considered as a big data? What are its features that characterizes a data as a big
data?

AnsThe term “big data” refers to data that is so large, fast or complex that it's difficult or
impossible to process using traditional methods. The act of accessing and storing large

amounts of information for analytics has been around a long time.

the main characteristics are commonly referred to as the four Vs –

Volume, Velocity, Variety, and Veracity Volume, Variety, Speed and Variation are
the characteristics of big data Some of the advantages of big data are improved
customer service, better operational efficiency, better decision making
(i) Volume - The name Big Data is associated with the largest volume. Data size plays a
very important role in determining the value of data. Also, whether or not a particular
data can actually be considered as large data depends on the size of the data. Therefore,
'volume' is an attribute to consider when dealing with big data.

(ii) Variety - The next aspect of Big Data is its type.

Variety refers to a variety of structured and unstructured sources and the nature of the
data. In earlier days, spreadsheets and databases were the only sources of data
considered by most applications. Nowadays, data in the form of emails, photos, videos,
surveillance devices, PDFs, audio, etc. are also considered in analytics applications. This
type of unstructured data presents some problems for storing, mining and analyzing
data.

(iii) Speed - The word 'speed' refers to the generation of data. How quickly data is
generated and processed to meet requests determines the actual capacity in the data.

Big data speeds up how fast data flows from sources such as business processes,
application logs, networks and social media sites, sensors, mobile devices. The flow of
data is enormous and continuous.

(iv) Variation - This sometimes refers to a discrepancy that can be shown by the data so
that the data can be manipulated and managed effectively.

5.Do you think it is possible to make machines intelligent and make decisions like human beings do? If
yes, how?

Ans
Yes,if the technology keeps growing this way.

6.Name three artificial intelligence applications in each of the following sectors and define their
advantages ; Healthcare, Millitary, Agriculture, Education and Entertainment.

Ans

narrow or weak AI, general or strong AI, and artificial super intelligence.

AI application in the healthcare system is related to shortening the time and easing the efforts
needed for examining and diagnosing the patients. As a testimony for this, one can consider the
potential of AI to identify the biomarkers that can detect certain illnesses in the human body.

AI is used in military logistics and transportation, effective transportation of goods, ammunition,

weapons and troops is an integral part of successful military operations, AI can reduce
transportation costs and reduce human operational efforts, allowing military navies to easily
detect conflicts and quickly predict component failures.

The use of artificial intelligence in agriculture allows farmers to understand data intelligence such
as temperature, rainfall, wind speed and solar radiation. Data analysis of historical values
provides an excellent comparison of the desired outcomes. The best part of implementing AI in
agriculture is that it does not eliminate the work of human farmers, but rather improves their
processes.

AI in our education systems. Customization. It is very difficult for a teacher to figure out how to
meet the needs of each student in his or her classroom: solution students, advanced students, ESL
students and people with disabilities all need the same access to learning.

What are the benefits of AI? There are many benefits of AI. With the advent of this emerging
technology, it is now possible to save time and money effectively by automating routine tasks.
The benefits of AI include gaining a competitive edge in the global market. Building a business
through a virtual customer support arrangement and understanding business benefits from
sophisticated analytics solutions are some of the benefits of AI.

7.What are the things in IoT and describe the building blocks or components of internet of things?

Ans
IoT is a transformative process that connects our smart devices and objects to the network.
1. Smart Devices and Sensors - Device Connection
Devices and sensors are components of the device connection layer. These smart sensors
constantly collect data from the environment and send the information to the next layer.
2 . The IoT gateway manages bilateral data traffic between different networks and protocols.
Another function of the gateway is to translate different network protocols and ensure the
operating system of the connected devices and sensors.
3. Cloud
The Internet of Things generates massive data from devices, applications, and users that need
to be managed efficiently. IoT Cloud provides tools for collecting, processing, managing and
storing large amounts of data in real time. Businesses and services can easily access this data
remotely and make important decisions when needed.
4 . Analytics
Analytics is the process of converting analog data from billions of smart devices and sensors
into useful insights that can be interpreted and used for detailed analysis. Smart analytics
solutions are indispensable for the IoT system to manage and improve the entire system.
5. User interface
User interfaces are a visible, robust part of the IoT system that are accessible to users.
Designers need to ensure a well-designed user interface for minimal effort for users and
promote more interactions.

8.What are the pros and cons of Internet of things in human's life? And what do you think it could be
the challenge for IoT not to be able to successfully applied by the current technologies?

Ans
The pros of the internet

1. Unlimited access to information

Anything you can ever imagine can be found on the internet and explored in detail. There are
millions of websites dedicated to all kinds of topics.
2. Controlling cultural gaps
Communication through the product of the internet is an incredible one. With a few clicks of
the mouse people can connect with people around the world
3. New links
Dating and other social sites are a growing part of the internet that has changed the process of
finding a partner for life. Whether it’s friends or life partners, people make new connections
with people they don’t meet in any other way. It broadens the vision of access to meet and
connect with new people.
the cons of Internet
1. A breeding ground for illegal activities
One of the unintended consequences of the internet is that it is an illegal and dangerous
activity that has taken refuge and persisted. The simplicity of the information has provided
insight into robbery, terrorist attacks, kidnapping and many other crimes. It provoked a
different crime, but on a monumental level. This is plagiarism, which involves downloading
and distributing items such as movies or music without the permission of the owner. This is a
crime committed in today's society because people do not consider it a real problem.
2. The world is will be dependent
Not all of our information is stored with the use of the Internet. This means that our medical
records, criminal records, educational records and financial records all depend on the security
of the sites where they live. Computer viruses are very common, and they are becoming more
and more aggressive.
3. Children are vulnerable and exposed
There is no way to truly verify age on the internet, which is a big concern because of the
wealth of content that is inaccessible to children. Pornography is very important, and children
can easily stumble upon these types of websites and expose things they should not be.
Children are also at great risk because of how easy it is to find inappropriate items online and
interact with people. Every day children are at great risk of being met or made for by their
“friends” online.

The difference between expectations and reality: A lot of businesses IoT is still in its infancy,
there is a gap between what is expected and possible from IoT. Corporate data maturity plays
an important role here.
Lack of properly defined application events: In a large number of cases the purpose and final
expectation of an application case are mis-defined. This leads to a failed utility case with no
business value.
Implementing security measures and data management: Managing large data and ensuring
privacy and proper security measures is a major challenge in integrating IoT solutions.
Suppose you are using an automatic or semi-automatic car. Now if the vehicle IoT
infrastructure is compromised it could lead to real threats.
