It is often said that ‘failing to prepare is preparing to fail’.

Therefore it is essential that those who are involved, or study
sport have a good understanding of concepts relating to
effective participation. This unit will give learners the
opportunity to examine basic factors of fitness, lifestyle and
psychology in sport.

BTEC FIRST FOR SPORT - UNIT 1 FITNESS TESTING AND TRAINING
ASSIGNMENT BRIEF
Welcome to BTEC Sport Unit 1 – Fitness Testing and Training

To help you to keep track of your work and to make sure that none of
your work is lost, it is important that you use an organised way of
saving each piece of coursework.

How to save your work

Create a ‘new’ folder.

Call it ‘BTEC Sport Unit 1’

Save each piece of work you do into this folder.

Each piece of work should be saved using the title at the top of each
work sheet. For example the first piece of work that you will save will
be called ‘Fitness requirements’.

How to set your work out.

To make sure that your work looks professional and well presented to the
examiner, you MUST follow the following instructions: -

• Never use word art! This makes your work look childish and makes
things difficult when you want to add extra things into your work.
• Choose a sensible font that is easy to read.
• Use the same font for the whole of your coursework.
• Use font 14 for assignments.
• Make sure you include the unit number and title on each piece of work
e.g. Unit 1 Fitness Testing and Training (do this as a foot note).
• Make sure you clearly mark what criteria the assignment covers e.g.
P1, M1 etc.
• Ensure you put you NAME and TEACHER’S NAME on every piece of
coursework as a header.
