Overview to WiMAX 16e Technology

WiMAX stands for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access. The ZXMBW
AGW is the wireless access gateway of WiMAX. As completely compliant with IEEE
802.16 protocols, the ZXMBW AGW boosts higher bandwidth, high rate, and farther
coverage area. The ZXMBW AGW provides powerful packet domain service
processing capabilities and richer service contents.
The ZXMBW AGW consists of the AGW/FA, the AAA, the HA, the DHCP Server,
and the OMC.

1. Leading international communication technology standards
ZTE is the first to join WiMAX Forum in China and quickly became one of the 13
board members of WiMAX Forum. ZTE’s 21 experts have become members of this
forum and its 14 patents become IEEE 802.16 standards, with over 160 proposals
adopted by IEEE 802.16 standards. ZTE has finished the role conversion from a
follower to a leader in the field of WiMAX.
2. Adaptive to different band and bandwidth demands
ZTE WiMAX products support 2.5G and 3.5G bands. It is ready to launch products
suitable for different band requirements and adopt different bandwidths at different
bands according to the application demands of different operators. In light of NWG
stage2/3, the ZXMBW AGW is compatible with different band access.
3. All-IP software/hardware platform
Based on the unified all-IP software/hardware platform, the ZXMBW AGW with
bearer separated from control reduces the development and maintenance costs.
The software development is stringently compliant with the design requirement of
software engineering, which makes the software easy to be maintained and
expanded with the top-to-bottom, hierarchical, and modular design concept.
4. Flexible networking
The ZXMBW AGW provides open interfaces. It supports megabit and gigabit
interfaces that can be configured in practice. The ZXMBW AGW is installed with a
built-in dynamic routing function and can flexible perform IP-based networking. The
ZXMBW AGW implements load sharing and active/standby mechanisms.
5. Powerful functions
The ZXMBW AGW supports simple IP access, mobile IP access, handover,
roaming, and VPN. It supports a variety of IP address allocate modes and flexible
accounting modes. Besides, it provides perfect QoS mechanism and operation &
maintenance management.
6. Perfect convergence with other systems and full-service provision
The ZXMBW AGW can be connected to the IMS or the softswitch to provide full
services. As the product research and development increases, the ZXMBW AGW
will soon support convergence of the WiMAX and EV-DO, GSM, WCDMA, WiFi, or
xDSL.
7. High reliability and flexible redundant mechanism
The software/hardware system boosts 99.999 ％ reliability. The operators can
select single-plane networking, dual-plane networking, backup of key hardware,
and disaster tolerance according to their investment demands.
