Hello guys….

We are back to a new semester…again. Well this semester is going to be as tough as usual.
But still hardworking is the core effort for each semester. To clear the thing out, this semester
all of us have to keep blogging but the topic has been given to us.

This semester, for EPC682 we are required to write an academic writing in which related with
our MIP version 1. In doing so, we have to search for scholarly article in which can be used to
support our writing. Searching for the scholarly articles is actually a difficult task to do even
though we can get access to the internet. Most of the scholarly articles in the net have to be
subscribed and we have to pay for it. And even Google scholar can not provide us the full-text
article. It just provides us with the abstract of the entire article for us to review and if we are
interested with the article, we can buy it. But then, we find other alternative to find a scholarly
article without having to pay it. Well of course the thing sounds better when it is free. We go
to the PTAR websites and we use the official journal database from PTAR named as
ProQuest. From ProQuest database, we can get access to the article and journal worldwide
and it makes our life easier to get the appropriate articles for our writing.

Salam.. Actually, I have already forgotten what i want to write for this post. Therefore I need
to walk around this lab for few minutes and chatting with my friends to reviewed back my
ideas…….

Hurm… last week I were instructed to look for related literature that can help me to write a
review to support my MIP2. While I am searching for the sources, I am facing a few
difficulties. For example, all my sources that I have picked is not really suitable with my
topic, I felt so frustrated about it. Luckily, Madam Noraini came and guided us and gives us
some tips to find better journals that are related to our writing. Furthermore, another problem
that I need to face is when I want to choose the topic for my academic writing. Honestly, it so
hard for me and my partner to came out with an outstanding topic which related to our
sources. For the past one hour, we just look at the appropriate topics for our academic writing.
We already came out with various kind of topics but unfortunately most of our topic is not so
related to our MIP version 2.

After struggling few hours, we managed to come out with a topic which is Enhancing Student
Reading Performance via MIP in Technology Environment. After I walk out from the
computer lab, I felt relief and happy because I could finish all my work within 2 hours…=)

We are assigned to do an assignment which is an academic writing. It is a pair-work

assignment and my partner and I are assigned to do the assignment based on the question
How computer technology helps language users/students. In my opinion, the topic is not very
difficult to handle since we can brainstorm even before we do the research. Thus, we are
really glad that we have this topic. Although the topic sounds easy but we still encounter
several problems in the quest of searching for our data. Since we are not very familiar with
the online database system, we have difficulty in finding our journals to support our points.
To solve this problem, we asked for the librarian to assist us besides referring to our notes
regarding the way to use the system wisely. Besides that, we also have difficulty when we
wanted to download the journals but we manage to solve this problem by asking our
classmates who managed to download it successfully. In addition, we also have some
difficulty in making decision on which journal is the best to support our points. However, we
are able to come to an agreement every time we have disagreement by having a discussion on
what we actually think about a particular journal or article. Overall, we managed to solve all
the problems that we have encountered.

I did not know that this semester we are going to have academic writing to support our MIP
v.2 project. so, I was quite surprised with the assignment. however, as I was at home, I spent
some of my time searching for the related articles and journals with my titles. As I have to
find established articles and journals, there were a few problems. First, is the internet
connection which is very slow and hard for me to get. Luckily, my roommate have a
broadband and she is so nice for letting me using the broadband for finding the right articles.
Then, I need to go to e-library which requires username and password which I do not know.
So, I need to ask my friend before I can proceed with the articles and journals. The last
problem is that I need to find the suitable articles and journals related with my title so that I
can make the best use of it and as a good reference. After quite some time, I managed to get a
few articles and journals from and I guessed those articles are goood enough for my writing
later on. My partner also have found some good articles that I believe we can use as reference
later.

We were given an assignment to do that required us to find a partner and write about our
given topic. I paired up with my good friend Fatima Syafiqah and we had to look for various
articles about teaching grammar by using computer assisted learning. At first, I encountered
some problems because my broadband was unable to be detected and so I could not look for
the articles. So I decided to go to the library at PTAR 3 near my condominium. I was not
familiar with the PTAR computer system and so the librarian decided to help me. He taught
me how to use the library’s computer system and how to search for journals or books in the
library by using the system.

Once I found out about how to search for things that I want, I realized that the computer
system is not that difficult to use. In fact, it was very helpful as it helped me locate the very
journal or book I want down to which floor of the library as well as which shelf and which
row. The final problem was how to decide which articles were the most suitable or which
worked best for my work. In the end, I managed to find exactly what I needed and I was so
relieved.

Last semester was an awesome journey for me. There were up and down, bad, good and
miserable day when MIP was a matter of concerned. We (Natasha, Habib, Amir, Adzim and
me) as a group struggled so much in order to come out with a production of MIP. Due to the
related literature, for me, the process of searching related articles for the production of MIP
was easy but the process of making the MIP itself was challenging. Those related articles had
been taken from internet, books and journals. Besides, Madam Noraini helped us in the
process of choosing the suitable articles to be used in the production of our MIP version 1.
Thank you Madam.

Although MIP version 1 done, we still struggled with the content of it. We would like to do
more and better than that but because of the restriction of time and lacking in time
management, we just fulfill the basic requirement for us to get A for MIP version 1. Since our
theme for the MIP production is 1 Malaysia, we are so lucky because there are a lot of related
articles which can be used as references. Therefore, I am thankful to God that there were no
serious issues arose during the process of MIP version 1 production… Alhamdullilah… By
the way, thank you Miss, Madam and Dr O for giving me A for EPC681…

The task of searching for scholar articles was a massive blow to me. This course had taken
another step in making me drown with coursework. Especially, in few weeks before the
final exam, I had a huge pile of assignments that I had to carry around my back and it’s
killing me. Why this unfortunate event happened to me every semester? Haha.. The answer
is clear but I still can’t afford to deny that I am in love with procrastination. Whether for
Dr.O’s and Dr.Dina’s , I did procrastinate and it left a huge scar in me (my pointer of
course!!). Now in semester 4, new challenges arise and I with the same old attitude try to
find the ultimate cure for my disease. “Hello, are there any drugs that can cure
procrastination?” I asked one pharmacist and she shouted at me using her mother tongue.
Haha!! That was fun! I believe that right now is the time for change. It is time for a new
Darth Vader to rise from hell and lead the wars against the mighty and evil procrastination
Jedi-s!! That would be awesome!! But first I need to realize that procrastination is bad and
it can affect others as well. So, beware of this virus my fellow Padawans!! After hours of
searching, leaving our procrastination behind, we managed to find some articles that talk
about the link between literacy and technology. Say NO to Procrastination.

hye everyone! how are you guys doing? i hope everything is fine. Well, i have something to
share with you today and i hope that you will love some comments after you read it. i’ll do it
too of course.In order to complete our task that has been given from our lecturer, we have to
find a few journal as the main sources for our academin writing. Eventhough it is pair work,
but i think there is few problem that happen along the process. Since, our title is learning
english grammar structure via the traditional method, and we have to find whether it is
effective or not to the students. we have to make research on such topic. One of the process is
where we have a problem on googling for it. some of the sources are not reliable and no
authorised. So, because of that it takes time to choose which journal that is suitable for the
academic writing. To overcome this problem, i reffered to the books, and the refferences and
try to find for it. The other method is by asking some of the lecturer guidance. the second
problem is the internet conncetion. sometimes the internet connection are too slow that cause
of the problem while downloading them. To overcome the problem, i have to use it in the
middle of the night or early in the morning since there might be less people will use the
internet. The third problem is it cost a lot of money. For instance in order to print it. There is
at least about 12 pages of it for one journal. Due to that we have to cut down our expenses for
the others. The other problem is trying to understand the article. Some of the writers prefer to
use the terms that is hard to understand. well, i discover the best way to overcome this matters
not just by using the dictionary,but by having a short discussion with people from the other
country. i totally suggested to you to try this. It is not just to help you but also interesting and
you can make a lot of friends and add extra knowledge.Lastly, eventhough it is a challenge for
us, but i realized that it will be beneficial for us.

At the beginning of the tutorial last week, I have encountered certain problems in seeking the
information on the literature which can help me in advancing my MIP version 2. There are
situation where it is hardly to find the topics related to MIP version 2, as some of topics that I
have listed down is rejected by Madam Noraini. At first, I don’t have a clear view of the task
provide by Madam Noraini, but after she consult me privately in the class, I evidently clear
upon the tasks.

So, after a while, me and my partner Hurul Ain Hassan, have decide to pick the topic which is
‘The Multimedia Interactive Package (MIP) helps to advanced the reading ability of students
via technology environment’.

However, there is still a difficulty in searching the related literature because there is limited
scholarly articles that can be found on the internet. Luckily, Madam Noraini suggested to the
class to look and search the related literature in the ‘Digital library’ that is provided in the
UiTM Student Portal website. This portal had eased up the process of searching for the valid
information regarding the literature as its provide scholarly articles that can be depend on.

At the end of the lessons, we all have been brief regarding how to write our academic writing
by Madam Noraini. I am excited and looking forward to finish this task as the submission
date is not far from now on.

here we are…again…with the same mood for different semester.huuu~~~

lets get started y’all!

as u all know we are demanded to do an academic writing..so do i..at first when i knew bout it
i was like…WHHAATTTT???!!.The new semester is enjoiced with reading,paraphrasing,and
writing…..waaa…that is not the best way to start i supposed…hahaha..what to do..i have to
do what i have to do…u guys too~~~hahaha.

so,talking bout the topic,my partner and i decided to get as many articles that are related to
reading skills and technology.yeah..we manage to get quite a few. however,we are facing a
problem which to come out with a very good topic to describe our ideas.there the journey
goes~~~

we referred to madam Noraini and she helped us by giving so many ideas and we at last came
across this topic;The Enhancement of Reading Skills and HOTS via technology.
we got few articles and i guess we’ll stick to this topic and start looking for the content and
hopefully this academic writing would not burden me much..hoho..since i LOVE writing!!!
yeahh!!!=)

the time is too short i guessed.i have to stop here before the lab is locked.wuhuu~

daa~have a bliss semester everyone!

My partner and I were given an assignment to write a review to support the MIP
version 2. We were supposed to search the area of “Teaching English Grammar in an
Integrated Approach (writing, reading, speaking, listening) Language in Classroom”.

While doing the search, I found that it is very difficult to look for journals or articles related to
the topic given. Also, I must search for journal article related to integrated learning where the
teaching in the classroom is not only involves the traditional method such as writing, reading,
speaking and listening.

As I began to understand and focus on the area that I must look for, I found the related journal
even it is not in the complete amount as required. I read the journal so I can gain some
understanding and get clear information to write the review later.
I found that, learning grammar does not only use the traditional method such as writing,
speaking, listening and reading; but also can be taught through integrated learning such as
through poetry and art. Therefore, MIP is also one of integrated approach in teaching as we
produce the learning aid interactively.

Welcome back!! It’s 2011, and the a new semester has just begun. Last semester we took
EPC681 with Dr.Othman and for this semester we were to take EPC682. EPC682 is the
continuation of the previous subject. Before, we were to do a multi-media package known as
MIPv1, this semester we were given another task similar to the previous one. MIPv2 is
similar to MIPv1 with some additional elements added to it. Other than that, we were also
given another task, which is the literature review. We were to hand-in a written literature
review and also present it in front of the class. I was given a topic on how ARCS model help
with the help of MIPv2. The review that I will be writing on, will definitely help as the
support to the MIPv2 since it focus on the use of ARCS model. In doing so, I was instructed
to do a research to search for the related literature that will help me write my own literature
review. In order to collect the sources needed, I went to the library to search for useful articles
and journals. The problem that I encounter while doing so is that to find the relation of MIP
and ARCS model. Another problem that I encountered through out the process of doing the
research is that I find it hard for me to download the articles and journals. In order to
overcome the problem, I tried to find other sources which would be easier for me to
download.

The new semester of January-April 2011 has just started and we still have a course with Dr
Othman Ismail, subsequent with the previous semester’s course of Web-enabled e-language
production. Last week everyone in the class was paired up hence i got to pair with my friend
Aishah and at first the instructor Miss Syahiza asked us whether to choose the titles ourselves
or she chose it for us, however somebody thought it was not going to be fair so the lecturer
told us to make a draw so that everyone would not complain of injustice. I was the one who
made the pluck so I got the number 9 which carried the title Differences – learning vs
acquiring language : how can you explain. My partner, Aishah and I went to PTAR 1 for the
journals-searching thing and we could not find much journals related to the title given so right
now we only have a few. To solve this problem, my partner and I decided to look into the
matters and we tried by looking around through Internet but not many could be found that
would be relevant to our title so we will be scouring again for the much needed journals later
on this week.

Last week we are asked to search for some literature reviews on the topic we got for the
academic writing assignments. for me and my partner, Mardhiyah we have to search for
literature reviews regarding the topic ” how computer technology helps language instructors”.
some of the reviews we found is focussing on the comparison between traditional instructors
and computer learning programs and some of them are one sided articles. other than lack of
sufficient sources, we also faced some other problems such as understanding the whole topic
as well as chunking every sources to divide it to the introduction, body and conclusion.

to solve this problem, me and my partner had decided to differentiate each sources into
diverse categories according to its topic, then both of us focussed on the introduction parts of
each reviews so that we can came out with various kind of introductions part such as the
definition of the terms and the definition as a whole. next, both of us decide to eliminate any
reviews that we felt didnt meet its requirement and use only certain reviews, yet we still have
to search for some more reviews so that we can gain as much as information we need.
hopefuly, we get to finish this assignment according to the lecturers expactation and handle
any problem we face.

last two weeks, i was instructed to look for journals that can help me to start and complete my
academic writing project, that is Multimedia Interactive Packages version 2. in the process of
doing so, i did encounter several problems in searching for the materials. as for me, the most
difficult is to find the related journals which is linked to my topic; the importance of learning
grammar and language structure. worst, i used the unsuitable search engine such as Google as
a medium of information as it gives a broad result and not specific. thus, i have a problem to
meet my partner as i stay away from university which takes about two hours.

every problem has its own way to be solved. as stated before, i do encounter problem in
searching a relevance journal. i do asked my classmates and some other friends on how to find
the correct journals on internet. majority of them suggest to use the PTAR online library; as
all the sources there are guaranteed as education and learning aids which have been approved
by professionals within the university. on the other hands, i use to meet my partner on the
weekend as i am not be able to see her on week days. today, the two problems are already
solved. however, they will occurs anytime needed and the most important solution is our time
management.

During last week class, we were instructed to look for four to six related articles that can help
us to write a review to support our MIP version 2 project. As the assessment is a pair work,
my friend and I has decided to search the articles in the library. Our topic is about “How Does
Technology Facilitate or Assist Learning”. After the class session on the next day, we went to
the Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Razak which is situated at the Menara Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah
to look for the articles. At first, we did encounter a big problem as we did not know which
section of the library we should go to look for the articles that are related to our topic as we
rarely went to the library to look for books. Then, we have decided to ask on of the librarian at
the registration counter to tell us which section we should go. Unfortunately, the librarian just
told us that the book might be placed at the Science and Computer section. Then, we went to
the Science and Computer section but after two hours we had not found any books or articles
that are related to our topic. My friend and I had not gave up yet and we continued searching
the book. Finally, we found a book entitled “Technology-assisted Learning” by Thomas
Allen.

In searching information for this assignment, I faced a lot of problems. One of them was a
very low internet connection which made my searching difficult. I used Maxis broadband for
my internet connection. It was so slow that took ages for me to search for only one article.
To do this research, I need to search for at least several articles or journals which obviously
will take years to be done. So, to solve this problem, I decided to use my friend’s laptop
which was connected to the Streamyx wireless. The connection was really fast and I could
save much time in searching those journals. Apart from that, I also faced problems which I
could not save several journals because the website did allow the journals to be copied. To
solve it, I decided to just save the page and I opened it whenever I want through the Google
chrome. At first I was so sad that the journal could not be copied to be printed out, so, by
doing this, the problem was solved. Another problem was my printer was running out of ink.
I was mad and decided to buy the ink on the next day. At last, all my journals were printed
out safely without any circumstances.

This year we are assigned to design an academic writing for this subject. We tried our best in
everything but problems kept on coming. Especially when you are dealing with technology,
for instance when I was doing my research, I didn’t find the correct article or journal that I
wanted. It’s frustrating since I’ve been searching for it for hours and nothing came up.

Next problem, since I am searching for registered articles and journals, I have to search in this
particular website. And to get into this system, I need to have a username and a password.
Sometimes we get confused with the username since we have a lot to remember nowadays.
Not only that, there are also problems with the wireless connection. A student without an
internet connection like me, face some troubles to get connected. Since our schedule is always
full with classes, I can only search for it during the night.

I guess this is the life of a student, no matter what, I should not give up because I know this is
not the end. I have my lecturers and friends to help me out. About the internet connection, I
can use it during classes in the lab. That should be the solution.

Last week, I was given a brief explanation about the assessment for this semester. What I can
say is when the going gets tough the tough gets going. In short, it is going to be a lot of work
compared to last semester, not just for this subject but also from others subjects too. From
what I get and understand, this course tests our creativity skills and the art within. Some of us
think this have nothing to do with our course. But hey, for me, this is needed for our future. I
do not think I have to list what the assignments’s are,as all of us know what is our
responsibility. I’ll just list my favourite and should I say my nightmare. My favourite would
be the ART WORK assignment. I love taking picture and I love mingling around with other
people and happy faces. This will definitely be in the top of my favourite list. Well, the one
that would be the last priority, again, designing the webpage. I can work with adobe director
swhismax and so forth, but totally not dreamweaver. I do not know why but I can’t tolerate
dreamweaver. Sorry to the creator. But hey, I will work on it. Definitely.

Okay enough with the webpage thingy, later after that, we were told to work in pair for the
writing academy’s assignment. Some explanation on it, how to work on it, based on it, up I
end up working with my mate, Syida. Well it is a tough assignment but I think we can handle
it just fine. We are required to search for 4 to 6 articles and we decided that our topic would
be, TECHNOLOGY ENHANCE STUDENTS’ MOTIVATION AND LEARNING
PERFORMANCES IN READING. Harry harry harry. For this assigment I do not encounter
any problem as it is usual for us Language students to deal with academic writing since the
beginning.Syida, hey ho lets go. That’s all for today.see ya.

Hye everyone! New semester has just begun and I guess everyone is just too excited to learn
new things right? During the first class of EPC682, Dr. Othman gives the briefing on what we
are going to do for this course troughout this semester. Like the previous semesters, we are
mentally prepared with the workloads; individual assignments, group assignment, and not to
forget, our big final project, the production of the CD.

For our first assigment, we are assingned to do an academic writing paper in pair. For the
start, Miss Syahiza brief us on what to do to complete the academic writing and we were
given the choices of titles that can be worked on.

The next day, my partner and I went to the library to find sources that can be used to complete
our academic writing. Since both of us rarely go into the library, so here the problems come.
We took almost half an hour just to find which shelves contain the books that we were
looking for. Shame on us.

We then ended up asking the librarian how to search the book easily and at first, the librarian
smiled sinically, literally telling us, “How come a university student don’t know how to find
books in library?”

But we just didn’t care . Anyway, this is part of learning isn’t it?”

Reflective log is no more unusual to us. We have been putting our commitment on this kind
of in-class activity since the first semester of this course. It was a kind of free writing when
we were asked to write but today, there are different questions we need to stick with in order
to get this bonus mark. This really means a hardly 10 bonus mark for us. J

This time around, we have to reflect on our activities in collecting and searching up the
materials for our academic writing. On the first class, Dr Othman was briefly explaining us
about what is the academic writing is all about. When I first heard that thing, the only thing
that popped out in my mind is, this is going to be tough! OMG. But after listening to Dr
Othman, I know that it is not that complicated. All we have to do is reflecting on the journals
that we have looked up.

Speaking of that, I went to the library to search on some related articles and journals with my
two friends, Amanina and Sabiha who happened to be my partner for the academic writing.
Apart from that, we had also referred to the librarian in getting to know on how to get the
online database from the UiTM library. Seriously I love to do so. It is far easier to collect
data using that application because all I need to do is just sit in front of my laptop and click on
this and that. Ahh…how I wish life is as easy as that. Ok, enough for today. The class is end.

Reflection 1

Assalamualaikum W.B.T

It feels really good that I am finally gaining the momentum to repreparing myself towards the
second part of the MIP and of course, to create a better and greater version of my work. On
the last semester I did not gain many knowledge and difinietly focus so the work did not go as
well as planned and Iam totally missing out, big time.

As for the second part of the work, at first we are required to find several articles that can be
related with the purpose of our team project, that is to help the student to learn English
grammar more efficiently, thus it will also encourage them to know and fun learning the
language.

After some time, I learn that seeking or finding information is easy, by all mean that we can
just go back home, open the internet, and wahlaa….information just keep pouring in. I dont
say that all information are not reliable, is just the matter of how do we find the most effective
and reliable information. As for me, I will look where are the information came form and who
is the author of the information and so far the information I got never letting me down. As for
the adobe director……I think that I really need some guidence for several of my classmate
because I am worst in programming. Till then I am really looking forward to have a great and
memoriable time learning the MIP.

Salam..First blog in the new semester. It feels quite awkward to write since during the
holiday, I had never type anything. So on the second week we went to lab, we were explained
on literature review that we had to complete this semester. I am so excited to start it since i
had once did a research paper during my diploma. However, it is not as i expected since i
have forgot everything about the paper, the methods and also the format of writing it. My
group got the title of “How can MIP helps students in learning”. According to Miss Syahiza,
we have to find for articles or journals that explain about MIP, not necessarily MIP that we
are doing but any kind of MIP that are created by others. We have not face any problem yet
because honestly, we have not started searching for the materials except during the previous
class. We managed to find about 4 articles and journals. Besides looking for the articles and
journals in internet, it is important to try to find them in the library. Hopefully, this
assignment will be as smooth as possible. We do not want to stay awake for more than
48hours like last semester completing our assignments. Please do help us lecturer..

Searching for some related literature in order to support my MIP version 2 is not something
easy. It requires a lot of reading throughout the process. Plus, we are required to find at least
six articles pertaining our MIP project– which is a lot! Nevertheless, the hardest part is to
choose the best articles among thousands. Anyway, i have decided to read articles using some
techniques that i have learnt; which are skimming and scanning. Rather than reading the
whole article, i would rather skim and scan only for the important points or ideas within the
article before deciding whether or not to take the article as a reference. It is crucial to have the
skills in the purpose of helping us getting the required articles since Google gives unnecessary
articles sometimes. Other than that, brainstorming is one of the ways to make things easier for
this task. It helps you to get the first glance on what we are required to do. Brainstorming
includes getting some ideas earlier before doing the task, organize some points accordingly
and etc. And i try to find a specific point to be searched upon by brainstorming. So it is a lot
easier to do some researches on a specific topic or point rather than a broad one. Hopefully i
will settle everything on time.

Hello again. We revise on last semester’s topics this week which i find useful because i
basically has forgot everything. I need to start from scratch. So, thank you Dr. Othman for
again guiding us in things that we are supposed to know already. There is one new thing that i
learn today. We can actually use a pull down effect in our director product. There is so much
effects that can help our final MIP product be interesting and animating. But, again my
ignorance stop me from thinking out of box. I mean, i keep using only the knowledges that
are in the CD. So, i want to change that attitude this semester. I want to try self service this
semester. One problem with me is that I love spoon-fed. That is why I rarely go to the library.
This is because, there we need to spend hours before we can get the materials that we want. In
the end, I keep using help from mr.internet. So, we all end up getting the same materials. To
conclude, I need a better time management. I must spend time to really focus on my study as
i’m in part four now. I’m looking forward to explore more. Till then, reminder to self:snap

Last week on the previous class with Dr Othman, we were asked to to look for a few journals.
At first, I didn’t really know what to focus on. But after we listen to the briefing given by
Miss Shahiza, then only I know what am I supposed to focus on. Besides that my partner and
I also manage to get a topic for our academic writing. So I started to search for the journals
that are related with my topic. At first, there was some difficulties in order to search for the
related literature. Event though I just need to search on the internet but it also gives me a few
problems. It was sometimes it gave me the wrong answer compared to want am I really
looking for. However I did not give up and continued to search for the related literature. It
definitely worthto try because I finally found a very good website which is really focus on
the learning and technology. In this website there are plenty of journals written by
proffesional writers. It have a lot of good journals that related with the topic that I got. I am so
happy to find this website and I will definitely use the journals from this website to help me
with my academic writing.

Looking for related articles to develop the second version of the Multimedia Interactive
Package (MIP) is not something easy–extensive reviews should be done so as to cater us
with sufficient amount of information for the write-up. To fit the title ‘Does Traditional
Method Help Students to Learn English Grammar?’, we first did some brainstorming to get
the surfacing idea of it. As I said earlier, looking for the materials to support the write-up has
always been a problem because sources for such a topic (Grammar, more specifically; Tree
Diagram Method) are scarcely found–they are not as many as the sources for other aspects of
grammar. To get things easier, as suggested by Dr.Othman, I did see the librarian to get the
pass key for online journals–and it worked. Going through such process is rather complicated
yet it does help me comprehend both the academic writing and grammar aspects better. I look
forward to coming up with a great piece of write-up that is not only informative but also
helpful for every student, particularly the LG220 students.

Hi there! Previously, we were given a task that will replace our academic writing. As we are
concerned, there were several topics provided and my teammate, Hafiz Adam and me had
chosen a topic titled, “How computer technology helps students to enjoy learning and
remember what they learnt”. Therefore, we already planned to go to the library on last
Friday; however, as we had meetings with our supervisors, we decided to cancel going to the
library on Friday. Then, yesterday we had lots of free time after our management class. As
Amalina & Kina got the same topic with us, therefore four of us decided to go to the library
together. However, I believe that each of us faced some constraints to search for the materials.
As for Hafiz & me, we found out that most of the books we searched for (that related with our
topic) were at PTAR INTEC. Hence, our first constraint was the shortage of relevant
materials to start our research. Secondly, we were informed that we have to submit this
assignment right after the mid-sem break; with tons of other assignments, we would face time
constraint issue to settle our assignment. Basically, these two are the prominent constraints
that we are tight onto it but I believe that, with our group works that these constraints can be
handled by Hafiz and me. Best of luck guys! ^_^V

The first week of the new semester would be tougher than the past. We were assigned
to search for any articles in order to write a review for MIP version 2. I used the technical
resources such as computers, in the Lab 2 to find the articles related. I took for one hour to
mull over the related literature via internet.

In doing so, I had to focus on the topic of reading as my MIP’s content is all about
reading and critical thinking skills. So, it came to my mind that I need to find something that
were related to higher order thinking skills, critical reading, reading theories, and use of
technology in enhancing critical reading among students. I was surprised that there were
many articles and journals related to those interesting topics. When I got all the resources, I
found that it was quite difficult in choosing the best articles among the best. I mulled over all
the resources before I decided to save it in my pen drive. Sometimes, I was not quite sure
about the articles I found, so I asked Mdm. Noraini about that whether the articles were
acceptable or not. Therefore, with help of Mdm. Noraini, I managed to find the best articles
for my MIP version 2. I was glad that my first job was done very well.

Hi there!! Thanks for reading my reflection this time. Well, I bet everybody has a lot of
problems in getting some references and good books to be used to support their M.I.P version
2. So, I faced some light problems so far – which was to get to the UiTM main library,
PTAR1. Hahahaha it may sound funny because it happens to be like I’m not a library
caterpillar. However, I spent some time to go there, together with some of my girl friends.
There were four of my classmates who followed me to PTAR. They were Erlyeza, Amal and
unfortunately I’ve forgotten the remaining two. It was so tiring to face the massive traffics of
UiTM, just to get to PTAR1 from Kenanga. I bet walking would consume considerably lesser
time. When we got there, we used the OPAC facility to search for book racks – Educational
site. Conversely, most of the books can only be found from INTEC library, UiTM campus of
Seksyen 17. Oh my Godddd…. But no worries, of course we found some good books from
PTAR… In the end, I found the books and we left. Thanks for reading!!

Last week, we have been told to find articles that are related to our topic that we choose.
Honestly, I do have problems in finding the suitable article that I can use in my academic
writing yet. My topic for academic writing is how technology helps English language
lecturers. I searched on the internet, but I found journal that do not have author. Some of them
did not have the reliable source. Furthermore, I do not have internet connection at my room.
So, it makes thing worse. After some thought, I think I better go to PTAR as I can find books
pr anything that are related to my topic. I asked some of my friends from other classes. They
said that they did get any suitable articles yet. So, I am planning to find the sources together
with my friends. It is hard to write the academic writing as I need to quote phrases from
reliable sources to support my statement. It will definitely easier for me if I can use 100% of
my ideas in the writing. Then, I can finish it faster as I did not have to study the sources first.

Hello everyone!! Welcome to blog’s world again. As usual, each of us has to write blog for
every week. But this semester, there are changes and differences in the way we use the blog
compared to the last semester. For example, for this semester, each post that we write has to
be about 200 words. Besides that, we are encouraged to comment our friends’ posts. Sounds
interesting, right? Look like we are chatting and commenting each other on Facebook. Apart
from that, the topic for our blog will be determined by Miss Fairuz. As for this week, Miss
Fairuz has assigned us to write about the reflection for academic writing progression. As for
my group, the topic for our academic writing is the difference between learning and acquiring
language. Sounds familiar right? If I’m not mistaken, we have learntabout this in semester one
for “Introduction to Language and Linguistic”. Although the topic seems quite easy, it is not
very easy for us to find the sources. Actually, we faced some problems in looking for the
materials. My group and another group who are doing the same topic had gone to the library
(PTAR). We have searched for the journal articles using the OPAC, but there is no result
found. Then, we asked for the librarian’s help. He tried to find the materials for us, but he got
the same result. It was quite disappointing for us. But all we can do is just keep searching and

Last week, we were assigned with our first assignment which was to write an academic paper.
Therefore, we were instructed to look for related literature that can help us to write a review
to support our MIP version 2. I am paired with my classmate, Amalina to work together the
next 3 months or so in order to come up with informative academic paper.

We managed to get an in interesting topic which is to write on how technology helps students
to enjoy learning and remember what they learn. Few days ago, Amalina and I went to the
library (PTAR) to find for sources for our academic paper. Generally speaking, I had not
much of trouble in finding our sources since I had experienced with the library environment
since semester 1. We went straight away to the second level and looked for the education
shelves. It took us about 15 minutes to find the right materials. With big smiles on our faces,
we carried about 8 books as our secondary sources for our academic paper.

As I raise my curtains down, I hope the sources will be accepted by our lecturer and in the
future we will be able to accomplish the academic paper with flying colours.

During the first tutorial class with Dr.Othman, we were assigned to pact with our group
partner to search for five journals on our own selected topics. The idea was to write an
academic essay reflecting the journals that we will be doing our research on.
In the second week class, Sarahfatin (my groupmate) and I got busy went to library almost
everyday to decide on the perfect journals to support our topics. As the class schedules were
all time packed, we did not have the chance to entirely explore libraries in UiTM. As for the
night when we were supposed to cling on television; watching ‘Hani’ on TV3, we braved
ourselves to the library with the slightest knowledge on what is the real function of a library
and the Opac. And there was a lady at the very corner of the library put our doubt to rest. She
gave a 10 minutes lecture on how to search for an article using SAGE and what’s not.
Thank to God, we were blessed for our every single trip to the library. However to date, we
manage to have only one article in our vault. Doing things at the drop of a hat usually ends up
backfire on the doers, so we decided to take things slowly and come up with an excellent
result by the end of the semester. Hopefully.

Last week on Tuesday, I have spent all my nights long in front of my netbook. Why it took
me so long there?? Actually, after I had been given the exact topic for my academic writing, I
have tried to search for the academic articles and scholarly articles. It was so hard for me in
order to find suitable journals and articles for the specific purposes.

Most of the journals and articles that I managed to get were only part of them. The web did
not provide the full version of the journals. If we want to read the full version of the journals,
we must subscribe the journals first, then only we can have the full review of the journals. As
a student, it is quite difficult for me to purchase the full review of the journals.

Finding known articles and journals poses a challenge for many users including me.
Challenges include choosing the best tools, using terms that make sense, and guiding the user
through the process. In addition, the continued development of Google Scholar raises the
question of whether it could become a better tool for finding a full-text article than link
resolver software or journal portals.

As a solution, today I went to the library with my partner and we tried to find books that are
related to our topic that have been given. However, some of the books there are not for
student to borrow. The books are only for revision there. Luckily we found some books that
can be borrowed and actually related to our topic. Thank God!!!

So, these are the experiences that I have been through in order to find articles, journals and
books for my academic writing references.

Assalamualaikum…

I have just got the scholarly article but very few. There are many challenges in order to find
the article. However, I still need more article to find and read. I am a bit sad because I have
planned to find the article earlier but unluckily my laptop could not function well. Therefore, I
could not really concentrate or handle my emotion whenever I try to find the related article.
Still, I am lucky because I got one article just now. But again, one article is not enough and I
have to find more. This situation is one of my challenges in order to find the article. In
addition, I also find out that it is slightly difficult to find the right article. I only say
SLIGHTLY difficult because I have not gone to the library yet. Again, I did not manage to go
the library due to my laptop problem. Actually, I had planned to go the library last weekend
but I had to cancel it because I went to see the laptop technician. But I will make sure that I
manage to get the articles before it’s too late. Being procrastinator last semester taught me a
lot on how important is to get prepared early. As I notice, academic writing is not that very
difficult thing to do. However, it will become difficult if we take it for granted and being
procrastinate.

Assalamualaikum friends…

First and foremost, I am very happy now because I have found one journal article that relate
to my topic for MIP version 2. Maybe you guys think that it is silly to be happy on that one
journal but for me it is worthy because it is not easy to get the scholarly journal. I have to go
through several challenges in order to get the journal. In addition, besides the scholarly
journal, I also get some articles on that particular topic and I think it can help me a lot. I am
too sad because I still did not manage to get journals or books from the library because of
some reasons. But, it doesn’t pull me down because I am so sure it is not too late to get and
find the other sources. The challenges that I have had in searching and getting the scholarly
journal taught me several lessons. In order to get the work done on time, we have to put or
move aside the procrastinating attitude because it somehow did not give us any good impact
in our life. So, do not procrastinate in doing work and don’t be so stress….just relax…huhu..:)

Salam everyone! Meet again this new sem(“,) and though it’s a bit late, still, Happy New year
to all of us! knowing that lots of us would be motivated to be much2 better than years before,
i really hope that everyone of us would fulfill their new year wishes before this 2011 come to
the end..(p/s: my last year’s wishes haven’t been fullfilled..LOL!)

back to this week questions, this week, we’re given the task to look for related literature to
help us to write a review for our MIP ver.2… In the process, my partner,Jaja and I
encountered some problems in getting the journals and articles. Some of the articles in the
internet need to be paid before we can view it and besides, we are really in problem to decide
on our titles.. However, after browsing for quite some time, and listening to Madam Noraini
advices, we have decided to compare and contrast the computer-based and non-computer
based students regarding their reading skills and critical thinking skills. She told us to collect
the articles and journals that are related to our academic writing as many as possible since we
might need to use more than six journals for our references. we’re also need to type our titles
for instructor’s information.. Lucky us, Madam approved our title and may Jaja and I can
complete our academic writing SUCCESSFULLY!

Last semester was an awesome journey for me. There were up and down, bad, good and
miserable day when MIP was a matter of concerned. We (Natasha, Habib, Amir, Adzim and
me) as a group struggled so much in order to come out with a production of MIP. Due to the
related literature, for me, the process of searching related articles for the production of MIP
was easy but the process of making the MIP itself was challenging. Those related articles had
been taken from internet, books and journals. Besides, Madam Noraini helped us in the
process of choosing the suitable articles to be used in the production of our MIP version 1.
Thank you Madam.

Although MIP version 1 done, we are still struggling with the content of it. We would like to
do more and better than that but because of the restriction of time and lacking in time
management, we just fulfill the basic requirement for us to get A for MIP version 1. Since our
theme for the MIP production is 1 Malaysia, we are so lucky because there are a lot of related
articles which can be used as references. Therefore, I am thankful to God that there were no
serious issues arose during the process of MIP version 1 production… Alhamdullilah… By
the way, Thank You Miss, Madam and Dr O for giving me A for EPC681…
