BUILDING DEPARTMENT FEE SCHEDULE ORDINANCE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VOTERS OF THE TOWN OF NEW HARTFORD


LEGALLY ASSEMBLED:

RESOLVED, to rescind the Building Department Fee Schedule ordinance which became
effective on February 14, 2007, and to adopt the following ordinance:

The following schedule of fees shall be charged by the New Hartford Building Department
based on the values and information set forth below:

A. Minimum fee for any permit: $30.00

B. Certificate of Occupancy: $25.00

C. Demolition Permit: $15.00 per $1000.00 of value

D. Tents $25.00

E. Roofing $12.00 per $1000.00


(value = $150.00 per square)

D. Construction permit fees: $12.00 per $1,000.00 of value


Based on the following square foot assessment or items:

1. Residential (A11) $100.00 per square foot


2. Accessory building, barns $40.00 per square foot
3. Assembly $185.00 per square foot
4. Business $145.00 per square foot
5. Factory/Industrial $100.00 per square foot
6. High Hazard $125.00 per square foot
7. Institutional $250.00 per square foot
8. Mercantile $125.00 per square foot
9. Temporary, Miscellaneous
& Swimming Pools Actual Cost, as determined by Building Official
10. Alterations, Renovations
Decks Actual Cost, as determined by Building Official
11. Fireplaces 1-story:$7,000.00
2-story:$8,000.00

E. Mechanical Permit Fees: $12.00 per $1000.00 of actual


Contract cost or based on costs listed below, whichever is higher:

1. Electric $6.00 per sq. ft. of living or occupied area


2. Heating $8.00 per sq. ft. of living or occupied area
3. Air Conditioning $6.00 per sq. ft. of living or occupied area
4. Plumbing $1,000.00 per bathroom/kitchen fixture

F. Late Fee: Any individual, homeowner, or contractor commencing work without


first obtaining an approved Building Permit will be subject to a fine of double the
standard permit fee. Fines will be imposed at the discretion of the Building Official,
and the Building Official will have the option of determining the project cost.

G. Refund Policy: The Town will charge a fee of $20.00 or 10% of the fee paid,
whichever is higher

H. Public Safety Fee: We must collect a fee of $0.26/$1,000.00 of the value of each
permit for the CT Department of Public Safety.

I. If the Town should require expert technical consultation in review of building plans
and/or construction, the costs of such consultation shall be paid to the Town by the
owner in addition to the permit fee.

This ordinance shall become effective fifteen (15) days after its publication in a newspaper
having circulation in the Town of New Hartford.
