Case Study Folder Q5.

1:

TDMA:-
Short for Time Division Multiple Access, a technology for delivering digital
wireless service using time-division multiplexing (TDM). TDMA works by dividing a
radio frequency into time slots and then allocating slots to multiple calls. In this way, a
single frequency can support multiple, simultaneous data channels. TDMA is used by the
GSM digital cellular system.

FDMA:-
FDMA (frequency division multiple access) is the division of the frequency band
allocated for wireless cellular telephone communication into 30 channels, each of which
can carry a voice conversation or, with digital service, carry digital data. FDMA is a basic
technology in the analogue Advanced Mobile Phone Service (AMPS), the most widely-
installed cellular phone system installed in North America. With FDMA, each channel
can be assigned to only one user at a time. FDMA is also used in the Total Access
Communication System (TACS).

CDMA:-
Short for Code-Division Multiple Access, a digital cellular technology that uses
spread-spectrum techniques. Unlike competing systems, such as GSM, that use TDMA,
CDMA does not assign a specific frequency to each user. Instead, every channel uses the
full available spectrum. Individual conversations are encoded with a pseudo-random
digital sequence. CDMA consistently provides better capacity for voice and data
communications than other commercial mobile technologies, allowing more subscribers
to connect at any given time, and it is the common platform on which 3G technologies
are built.
Case Study Folder Q5.2:

G1:-
G1 Technology, a subsidiary of Generation One, is a small technology company
whose purpose is to serve the greater community with products to help further develop
higher technologies. With roots in servicing other small businesses and open source
software projects with not only web and software based technologies but also electronic
designs, G1 Technology will now further the goals of its founder.

G3:-
3G is the third generation of mobile phone standards and technology, after 2G. It is
based on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) family of standards under the
International Mobile Telecommunications programme, "IMT-2000". 3G technologies
enable network operators to offer users a wider range of more advanced services while
achieving greater network capacity through improved spectral efficiency. Services
include wide-area wireless voice telephony and broadband wireless data, all in a mobile
environment.

Unlike IEEE 802.11 networks, 3G networks are wide area cellular telephone networks
which evolved to incorporate high-speed internet access and video telephony. IEEE
802.11 networks are short range, high-bandwidth networks primarily developed for data.

Case Study Folder Q5.3:

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a worldwide radio-navigation system formed

from a constellation of 24 satellites and their ground stations. GPS uses these "man-made
stars" as reference points to calculate positions accurate to a matter of meters. In fact,
with advanced forms of GPS you can make measurements to better than a centimetre!
In a sense it's like giving every square meter on the planet a unique address.
GPS receivers have been miniaturized to just a few integrated circuits and so are
becoming very economical. And that makes the technology accessible to virtually
everyone. These days GPS is finding its way into cars, boats, planes, construction
equipment, movie making gear, farm machinery, even laptop computers.

Case Study Folder Q5.3:

This case study is related with restaurants. Actually there was a problem with restaurants
that they can not use such technologies of computer and can not make more customers.
They wanted to use such softwares which can help them to make more customers.

Menulog Company found the solution for this and launches one web site, which can book
online customers for restaurants. In this web site of menulog.com.au customer can book
their tables for such restaurants. This web site also offers such extra facilities to
customers for restaurants. This web site got success in Australia and small restaurants got
so many customers from online booking. Now this Company wants to go global and it
wants to start their business in Thailand, New Zealand and Hong Kong.
