Introduction

Flick a switch and get instant power- are you curious how your washing machine do the
laundry or your electric fan to give that cool nice air. How about, what makes it possible for
ships and planes to have electricity inside them even they do not have poles. All that
because of the power house- electric motor and generators. Let’s pull some apart and find
out how they work. How electric motor works- in theory, the link between electricity,
magnetism, and movement was originally discovered in 1820 by French physicist André-
Marie Ampère (1775–1867) and it's the basic science behind an electric motor.

But if we want to turn this amazing scientific discovery into a more practical bit of technology
to power our juice blenders and rice cookers, we've got to take it a little bit further. The
inventors who did that were Englishmen Michael Faraday (1791–1867) and William
Sturgeon (1783–1850) and American Joseph Henry (1797–1878). Now we are enjoying
these great men’s achievement, in our daily living. On the other hand, generators are useful
appliances that supply electrical power during a power outage and prevent discontinuity of
daily activities or disruption of business operations. Generators are available in different
electrical and physical configurations for use in different applications.
