How to Format a Computer

1. Turn on your PC or restart if it it’s already on.

2. If you’re lucky, your PC will show you a brief message right when it starts, something
like press DELETE to enter BIOS. At that point, hit that key and you’re in.

3. Go to Boot Menu by using the arrow keys of your keyboard. (Note: You cannot use your
mouse while inside BIOS.)

4. Select CDROM as your 1st Boot Device.

5. Now insert your windows XP (or other operating system installer) in the CDROM.

6. Press F10 to save and exit the BIOS.

7. Wait until windows setup is finish.

8. Press Enter to set up windows XP now.

9. After reading the windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to accept the END-USER
LICENSE AGREEMENT or ESC if you do not agree.

10. Select drive C: and press D to delete the selected partition then press ENTER.

11. Press L to continue deleting the selected partition.

12. If you have other partition like drive D: repeat procedure 10 – 11.

13. To create a partition press C. (It’s good to partition your computer most especially if
your hard disk is big.)

14. Specify the size you want to have on your new partition then press ENTER. (Note: if
you have 80 GB hard disk or more, you can create two (2) partition. 50 GB or 50,000
MB for your first partition (for drive C:) and 30 GB or 30,000 MB for your second
partition (for drive D:).)

15. Select the Format the partition using the NTFS file system then press Enter.

16. Wait while Setup formats the partition.

17. Installing Windows.

18. Click Next.

19. Type your full name and the name of your company or organization then click NEXT.

20. Type the Volume License Product Key then click NEXT.

21. Provide a name and an Administrator password for your computer then click NEXT.

22. Now set the correct date and time for your Windows Computer then click NEXT.

23. Choose Typical settings then click NEXT.

24. Click NEXT to continue installing windows.

25. Click NEXT.

26. Select Not right now then click NEXT.

27. Click Skip.

28. Select “No, not at this time” then click NEXT.

29. Type the name of each person who will use this computer then click NEXT.

30. Click Finish and you’re done. Congrats…

Note:

*** Click start  control panel  switch to classic view  system. Go to hardware tab
then click device Manager. If you see a yellow question mark symbol it means some
drivers of your pc is not yet installed. Go and get the installer of your motherboard and
try to install all the needed drivers of your PC.

*** Please make sure you have installed first an anti-virus on your computer before
installing some software and using flash drives.
