5 EARTHQUAKE
SAFETY TIPS
Before the Earthquake:

STEP 1: SECURE YOUR SPACE


Make sure that you identify all the possible hazards and
secure the movable items. Move your furniture to prevent
them from being shaken up and fallen down.

STEP 2: PLAN TO BE SAFE


Practice Drop, Dover, and Hold On
Make sure you identify which parts in your room is safe
to use for cover like desks and tables that are sturdy.

STEP 3: ORGANIZE YOUR ITEMS


Organize you're emergency supplies where you can
easily find them and store you're legal/important
documents somewhere safe.

During The Earthquake:


STEP 4: DROP, COVER, AND HOLD
DROP onto your hand and knees. COVER your head
and neck with one hand, if there is a sturdy table
nearby crawl underneath it, if there is none crawl next
to a wall away from windows , and stay on your knees.
HOLD ON until shaking stops.

After The Earthquake


STEP 6: ENHANCE SAFETY
Enhance the safety Immediately by evacuating,
assisting the injured preventing any other
additional damage or injuries. Check if there are
injuries or damages that need urgent attention.

Make sure that you stay indoors because

there is still ash and only go outside when

authorities say so especially for people who

have breathing problems .

Wash your hands often


Wash your hands often with soap and water
for at least 20 seconds and if there is no soap
and water available, use a hand sanitizer or
alcohol.

Wear a mask/cloth face covering


Wear a mask/cloth face covering when going
outside to cover your mouth and nose. It is not
only to protect you but also to protect others.

Maintain social distancing


You should practice social distancing for safe
space between yourself and other people. You
should stay at least 6 feet away from other
people.

Clean and disinfect surfaces


Clean and disinfect frequently touched
surfaces for example tables, doorknobs, light
switches, etc. Make sure to clean the surfaces
using soap and water and then after use a
household disinfectant.

Stay at Home
Since the virus is thought to be spread from
person-to-person it is best to stay at home. Go
outside if only necessary (like going to work,
buying supplies, or going to the hospital.

distractions and that you check and watch the food.
Make sure to stay in the kitchen.

Most home fires are caused by indoor smoking
because the fire was not thoroughly put out.

MAKE AND PRACTICE A


FIRE ESCAPE PLAN
Create a home fire escape plan with two exits for every
room. Choose a safe location to meet outside that has
a safe distance away from your home.

IF THERE IS A FIRE IN
YOUR HOUSE, LEAVE
IMMEADIATELY
If there is a lot of smoke get out by getting low
and crawling out of your house as fast as
possible. Call 911 when you are at a safe distance
away from your home.
