This week I have included two different popular writing R15 Katrina Read Year 2
styles. The first is a diary entry written by a student who Kahikatea Syndicate
has been learning English for the first time – started in R5 Sally Russ Year 3-4
February. The second is a piece of poetry based on the R6 Choi Fu Year 3-4
colour green – enjoy. R7 Joanna Glassford Year 3-4

On Friday I went to Jonny’s house for the first time. Totara Syndicate
Jonny’s house was huge like a giant’s house. He had six R1 Freya Sonneland Year 5-6
puppies and we played trampoline soccer. The trampoline R2 Dave Palmer Year 5-6
was the field and you just play soccer on the trampoline. I R3 Fiona McDonald Year 5-6 (Syndicate Leader)
think Jonny made up the trampoline soccer and it was fun.
Te Pouahi
On Saturday morning I went to the library and I read lots R10 Carly Ave Year 0-1
of books and I saw Jonny. After that we went to the A and R9 Chanel Ngaruhe Year 5-6 (Syndicate Leader)

In 2011 Jonathan Holland will be taking leave for the year. Term 4 finishes Thursday 16 December
During that time he and his wife Barbara, will teach in The
New Zealand International School in Jakarta, Indonesia. Terms and dates for 2011
Term 1 starts Monday 7 February
Carly Ave also intends taking leave for the year to teach in
Term 2 finishes Friday 15 April
Northland. We wish them well for the year and look

Inter-School Athletics
A group of 33 students were selected to compete in the inter-school athletics sports at Saxton Field last
Tuesday. They competed against the cluster of town schools: Hira, Clifton Terrace, Auckland Point,
Hampden St, St Josephs and Victory. All competed in sprints, high jump, quoits, 800m, tennis ball throw
and long jump. Teams were also selected to compete in the relays. All enjoyed the day and performed well.
The team must be congratulated on their great sportsmanship and social skills. Thank you to the Karrin
Meehan for helping supervise the children and to all parents for providing help and support throughout the
day. Special mention must go to the following students for their
outstanding performances on the day:
