Today’s Announcements:
✓ There is no school next week, February 15-19.
✓ Please complete and submit a picture of the physical education reflection at
some point today.
✓ Reminder: the format of our check-ins has changed. If you have any concerns
or would like to chat, please feel free to give me a call at your scheduled time. If
not, no worries
✓ Beginning this week, our class after Nutrition Break 2 (Science/Social) will begin at
1:25. I’m having a hard time getting from my supervision (which goes until 1:18ish on
most days) back to class in time for 1:20! Thanks for your understanding!
8:30-9:00 Physical Education & Parent Meeting
Students are expected to be completing physical activity of some sort
during this time. Stuck? Check out our class website under the “Physical
Education” tab.
Parents, please be logged on to TEAMs prior to 8:30. Our meeting will likely
be wrapped up by 8:45.
9:00-9:10 Language Arts: Writing: February Choice Board
Rather than beginning a new unit before the break and pivot point, we
are going to do some fun February-themed writing activities. Students
have a February Writing Choice Board in their package this week. Each
square on the choice board has a number in it (10-18). Each of the pages
following the choice board are numbered (also 10-18). You may want to
use the provided pages to complete the writing activities. Please note,
while not all activities need to be complete, the effort and number of
activities should balance out (i.e., completing one activity per class but
completing it thoughtfully and thoroughly is preferred to completing 4
activities poorly in the class time given).
9:10-10:05 Independent Work Time
Students have time to complete the activities on their choice board.
Students can select whichever activities they would like to do!
10:05-10:15 Writing Share
Students are invited to share one activity they have completed or been
working on from their February choice board.

1:25-1:35 MATH MYSTERY!
Introducing our Valentine’s Math Mystery!! I am so excited to bring this
challenge to students. Together we will watch the introductory video and
read the instructions. There are a series of challenges which students will
need to complete. Each challenge reveals a clue towards figuring out who
the Heartbreak Hitman is! Once each clue is completed, students can use
the suspect list to eliminate people until there is only one person
remaining!
Important notes: The clues MUST be completed in the order they are
given (1-5).
1:35-2:35 Independent Work Time:
Students will use this time to work on their math mystery! Please send
me all completed clue pages as they are working. Students will be getting
additional time tomorrow to complete this activity, so if they do not
finish, that is okay!

11:05-11:15 Math Mini-Lesson: Addition Word Problems
We will take another look at trying to solve math word problems. There
are many tricks I’ve seen to figuring out word problems. One is covering
the numbers and just reading the words, trying to comprehend what the
question is asking. Then filling in the numbers and solving the problem.
Remember, with word problems, one HAS to show their work by creating
a number sentence/equation and solving it.
11:15-11:45 Math Independent Work Time
Students will complete pages 1 and 2 in their math booklet. With remaining
time, students are encouraged to practice math facts or play math
games on the class website or Prodigy.
