Materials will be delivered in the site according to the requirements and stocked in a
secured and controlled room.

Site Planning & Preparation

Encroachment permit will be obtained first before starting any activity in the site. Once
the area is determined and granted, the safety personnel will established the perimeter
barricades and warning signs. Demolition crew will follow and will start demolition of the
existing concrete to be replaced. Then shuttering and pouring crew will commence
shuttering and pour the lean concrete. The waterproofing and steel fixing crew will
commence their activity installing the waterproofing membrane under the foundation and
shuttering. Concrete pouring will be done once minimum of concrete or equivalent is
prepared. Pre-pouring inspection will follow with RC representative, after inspection has
been done and approved by RC representative concrete pouring will follow, while the
other will be in the area preparing for the next pouring. The curing crew shall start right
after completion of pouring covering the concrete area with burlap and polyethylene
sheets. Again the waterproofing crew will follow after the curing period elapsed checking
the moisture content of the concrete once it pass to the standard moisture requirement,
waterproofing of the sides of the foundation will follow. Installation of reflective
membrane above the finish grade line and the insertion of waterproofing membrane
into the chase covering with trowelable grade sealant will also be done thus hereinafter
backfill and compaction will follow. This isolation method will be strongly employed thru
out the duration of the project to prevent hazard to the public.

Work Methodology
 Listed below is the activity in sequence for the excavation:
1. Preparation of the surface shall be done in accordance with the sheet membranes
manufacturer written instructions.
2. The surface to receive the waterproofing membrane should be smooth and dry and
free from dust, dirt, projections, voids and loose aggregates. Any contaminants such as
grease, oil, wax shall be removed. The surface should be primed thoroughly with
waterproofing membrane primer.
3. Waterproofing membrane is installed by progressively peeling of the release paper and
un-rolling the membrane along with it. The membrane should be 10 cm side laps and 15
cm staggered end laps fully pressed down to ensure a good seal.
4. Protection board should be continuously over the waterproofing membrane sheet and
can be cut easily with a roofers knife to fit all areas. For horizontal surface, cut the
protection board sheets together. If necessary cut the sheets to fit all intersections and
protrusions. On vertical surface, cut the sheets and hold temporarily in place until backfill
is accomplished. Protection board can be fixed by cold/hot applied.

5. All concrete surfaces in contact with soil shall be protected. All blinding concrete shall be
laid on 200 micron thick polyethylene sheet. All horizontal surfaces of concrete shall be
protected by waterproofing membrane up to underside of the pipe or 150 mm above
finished grade level. All vertical surfaces of the concrete shall be protected by two coats
of coal tar epoxy 200 micron dry film thickness (DFT) each, resulting into total 400
micron DFT.

that will not be poured is very critical as it might be contaminated and needs to be clean
prior to the pouring of concrete.

Inspection & Testing

 Prior to chipping of concrete RC Engineer shall inspect the area of the unsound concrete
for area verification.
 Once concrete preparation is complete RC Engineer shall inspect the area and conduct
a dust cleaning test.
 After application of waterproofing membrane and coal tar epoxy RC Field Engineer shall
inspect the completed section according to finishing.

Follow up & Evaluation
