most merciful.
I would like to start this passage by quoting a verse from the Glorious
Qur’an from Surah Ahzab Ch.33 Vs No-40 which says:-
Muhammad is not the father of any of you men, but he is the messenger of
Allah and the Seal of the Prophets. And Allah has full knowledge of all
things.
The Glorious Al Furqaan is the last and final
revelation of Allah S.W.T. which was revealed to our beloved Prophet
Muhammad P.b.u.h. The Glorious Qur’an is a message for the whole of
humankind. The Qur’an testifies it’s criteria as a book for Eternity in
Surah Ibraheem Ch. No. 14 Vs No. 1:-
Alif Laam Ra. We have Revealed this book unto thee so that you may lead
mankind from the depth of darkness to light by the leave of thy lord who is
the most exalted in power worthy of all praise.
The Glorious Qur’an repeats its status as the Eternal book in Surah
Baqarah Ch. No. 2 Vs. No 185:-
Ramadan was the month in which the Qur’an was revealed as a guidance
to the whole humankind, as a criterion to judge right from wrong.
Here is a message for the whole of humankind. Let them take warning
there from, and let them know that there is only one God, and let the men
of understanding take heed.
Of some Messengers we have already told you the story; Of others we have
not.
We did aforetime send Messengers before you: of them There are some
whose story we have related to you, And some whose story we have not
related to you.
\
We shall now cast an enquiry at the various stories of Companions
mentioned in the Qur’an
Verily We have then as we tried the people of the garden when they
resolved together the fruits of the garden in the morning.
Then there came on the (garden) a visitation from thy Lord (which swept
away) all around, while they were asleep.
So the (garden) became, by the morning, like a dark and desolate spot,
(whose fruit had been gathered).
But when they saw the (garden), they said: “We have surely lost our way:
Said one of them, more just (than the rest): “Did I not say to you, ‘Why
not glorify ((Allah))?’”
They said “Glory to our Lord! Verily we have been doing wrong!”
“It may be that our lord will give us in exchange a better (garden) than
this: for we do turn to him (in repentance)!”
Such is the punishment (in this life); But greater is the punishment in the
Hereafter,-if only they knew!”
Opinions Concerned:-
Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (R.A) says this is just a parable to show how
the people of Makkah were. It is not an actual event which took placed.
Hazrat Saeed bin Jubayr (R.A) says it is an event which happened at a
village in Yemen called Darwaan which is situated about six miles from
san’aa.
Now whether this is a reality or a parable, the Qur’an has served
it as a warning. It points towards the disobedience of Quraish and there
rejection of RasulAllah (P.B.U.H.). It was an circumstance that all his
neighbours were the leading chiefs of the Quraish, for example Abu
Lahab, Walid ibn Mughirah, Ummayya ibn Khalaf, Nadr ibn Harith,
Aswad ibn’Abd Yaghuth, ’Uqbah ibn Abi Mu’it, Munabbeh Ibn Hajjaj,
Hakim ibn Abi al ‘As-and these happened to be his greatest enemies.
Allah has a law whereby he grants respite to even sinners with the aim of
them coming to their senses. But when such respite is granted and
someone fails to take advantage thereof or takes it as a sign that he is on
the right path, and then suddenly Allah’s punishment will come and
destroy him.
In the Qur’an a very short story is told in Surah Ya Sin. Therefore the
people concerned are also known as the Companions of Surah Ya Sin
“(O Prophet) tell them the story of the Companions the Qaryah, when
Allah’s Messenger came to them.
When we (first) sent to them two apostles, they rejected them: But we
strengthened them with a third: they said, “Truly, we have been sent on a
mission to you”
The (people) said: “Ye are only men like ourselves; and ((Allah)) most
Gracious sends no sort of revelation: ye do nothing but lie.”
They said “Our Lord doth know that we have been sent on a mission to
you:
The (people) said “for us, we augur an evil omen from you: if ye desist
not, we will certainly stone you. And a grievous punishment indeed shall
be inflicted on you by us.”
They said: Your evil omens are with yourselves: (deem ye this an evil
omen). If ye are admonished? Nay but you are a people transgressing all
bounds!”
Then there came running, from the farthest part of the city, a man saying
“O my people! Obey the apostles:
“Obey those who ask no reward of you (for themselves), and who have
themselves received Guidance.
“It would not be reasonable in me if I did not serve him who created me,
and to whom ye shall all be brought back
“Shall I take (other) gods besides him? If ((Allah)) most Gracious should
intend some adversity for me, of no use whatever will be their intercession
for me, nor can they deliver me.
“For me, I have faith in the lord of you (all): listen, then, to me!”
It was said: “Enter thou the Garden.” He said: Ah Me! Would that my
people knew (what I know)!-
And we sent not down against his people, after him, any host from heaven,
nor was it needful for us to do so.
It was no more than a single mighty blast, and behold! They were (Like
ashes) quenched and silent.
(Surah Ya Sin:13-29)
Ibn Ishaaq (R.A) relates on the authority of Kaab Ahbaar (R.A) and Wahb
ibn Munabbah (R.A) that these events happened in the city of Antioch in
Syria. The people used to be idol worshippers and there king was someone
called Antakhees. Allah sent three Messengers with a message of Hid
ayah to them. They were Saudiq, Sadooq and Shaloom. The third one who
came from the furthest end of the city was called Habeeb. This Habeeb is
reported to have been a saintly and ascetic pious worshipper of Allah who
kept himself busy with Ibaadat In his part of the town. Another opinion is
that he used to manufacture silken and yarn material and a man well
known for charitable works. This story serves as an admonishment and
warning for others, especially the people of Makkah.
