Week Topic: Oral Defense of Feasibility Study Output

FINAL PERIOD

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to develop a student’s ability to undertake complex feasibility studies.
Students would be motivated to develop their skills in feasibility studies and apply various
techniques through performing feasibility studies as well as project studies.

This course helps students to understand the economic condition of a business project, the
relation between economic feasibility study and economic development, the key steps to do
pre- feasibility study, and the components of a feasibility study.

This course is also designed to help students develop their entrepreneurial research skills, and
help them become more familiar with particular business industries, as well encourage them to
develop ideas and present them to others. This course involves case studies, practical and
hands-on training on a feasibility study. In general, this course describes the attributes and
characteristics of a feasibility study, the five aspects/parts of the feasibility study and the
variables involved in the project management process.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the topic session, students will be able to:

1. Allow students to deeply explore a feasibility topic, problem issue, strategies and
analysis of external and internal forces affecting the business project
2. Evaluate the viability of the project based on the outcomes of the study.
3. Knowledge to identify, evaluate, and obtain resources..
4. Able to evaluate opportunities, available resources, viable organizational and business
models, and barriers to success and potential risks.
5. Describe the rationale of the project plans.
6. Critically apply theories, methodologies, and knowledge to address fundamental issues
and concerns in business risks and opportunities.
7. Understanding of the ethical and moral issues confronting new venture formation
within a Christian perspective.
8. Knowledge of managing and growing a new venture, including the challenges and
demands of the business venture.
9. Understanding of the aspects of creating and presenting a new venture business plan.
10. Develop and deliver a presentation using an appropriate medium) and an oral defense
to panel on their feasibility study processes, method and findings.
11. At the end of this period, expected a 100% of students successfully completed and
passed their oral defense.

 Operating and Control System
 Growth Plan
 Financial Plan
 Supporting Documents/Appendices

The anticipated schedule for covering the course materials and project deliverables is as
follows:

Week 12 Project Feasibility Analysis & Valuation Overview

An overview of the study topic and the purpose behind investment analysis will
be the focus.

Week 13 Presentation of Chapter 1 & 2

Week 14 Presentation of chapter 3 & 4

Week 15 Presentation of chapter 5 & 6

Week 16 Pre-defense Presentation


Week 17 Final Defense

ACTIVITY/WRAP UP

RESEARCH PROJECT:   Write a research paper about marketing strategies of new business


venture of 1250-1800 words [about 5-7 pages, double spaced, 12pt, APA style]. Paper is due
December 1, 2020.
 
 
PURPOSE: The purposes for this assignment are:

1) For the student to become familiar with the relevant research literature in the field of
entrepreneurship contained in scholarly journals and books, and
2) For the student to research a topic of interest within the field of business marketing
strategies.
 

 METHODOLOGY:

To prepare for the paper, conduct a literature review on the topic (10 journal articles or books).
A good starting point would be to review the journals contained in Frontiers of
Entrepreneurship and Marketing Strategies (FER/MS), 2015-2021, published by Babson
College. (www.babson.edu/entrep/fer/ms/index.html). Several journals referenced in FER/MS
are available electronically through the CU library using Ebsco Online, Business Source Premier
and appropriate keywords, authors etc. Examples include: Entrepreneurship Theory& Practice;

Then, propose a research question, discuss the relevant theories and empirical studies
surrounding the question or hypothesis, develop your position using evidence from the
literature in support/contradiction, and conclude with your findings.
