Chapter V

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter discusses the summary of findings, conclusions, and

recommendation of this research paper entitled “The effectiveness of online learning to

the academic performances of the selected grade 11 students of Notre Dame of Greater

Manila S.Y. 2020-2021”.

The researchers conducted this study with 12 respondents; 3 HUMSS students, 4

ABM students, and 5 STEM students. This research paper was intended to identify the

effectiveness of online to the academic performances of the selected grade 11 students of

Notre Dame of Greater Manila. With the respondents, the researchers have answered

the research questions and have concluded the study.

5.1 Summary of Findings

The result of the data gathered shows that online learning is more efficient for the

students and it affects their academic performances positively. Most of them are

interested in the subjects so that they can get a higher score in tests and quizzes in

online learning. They mostly finish their tasks and activities easily in online learning

because they have enough time to do it and also, they can do it right away in their own

houses. Although some of them experienced some difficulties during their online classes

and it can affect their academic performances negatively, but teachers tend to be more

considerate to help the students to get through their difficulties. On the other side, their

asynchronous activities are can be easily done with enough time so that they can express

more their idea and skills in doing such activities. The results also show that even
though there are difficulties during and after the online classes they tend to cope up with

it and get a high score that can affect their academic performances positively.

The hypothesis from the research is authenticated as true because it

demonstrates the effectiveness of online learning to the 12 respondents. The evidence

state that the (5) of the respondents says that they can take the classes without leaving

the house and they can easily find the sources for their activities because they are at

home. (4) of them says that online learning is very convenient for them and it can help

you to have time management, also in online learning you are safe from the phenomena

that are occurring in our country right now. Lastly, (3) of them tend to be more focused

on their study inside their houses.

5.2 Conclusion

 Most of the students encountered some difficulties during their synchronous time in

online classes, still, they can cope up with their activities, quizzes, and recitations that

were made by the teachers, also they can get a higher grade even though there is a

problem during online classes. These experiences can affect their academic

performances positively because according to the students their teachers attend their

difficulties and turns to be more considerate in setting the deadline of the said activities

or quizzes for them to study the lesson and review it before doing the quizzes or activities

that is assigned to them.

 All of the students are enjoying the new normal way of learning right now. Students tend

to enjoy the type of learning and their subjects because the technology joins the learning

of the student every session which is called online classes. The students tend to be more

active in an online learning system that is organized by DepEd, they enjoy every little
detail of the learning it is like playing while your learning process so that they can enjoy

every subject discussion that may result to get high grades for the students. Most of them

are more focused on learning in their own houses than in other places because they feel

safe and enjoy their own company itself.

 In conclusion, aside from the current phenomena that are occurring in our country right

now and the state of the education is getting low, most of the students are not much

affected in terms of their academic performances negatively but according to them they

got more knowledge and focus while they are at home than in other places. Their

responses show that most of them online learning is more efficient in learning at home.

5.3 Recommendation

 The researchers recommend that the teachers should be more understanding and

considerate in assigning some tasks and activities to their students because most of them

don’t have enough materials to finish the given tasks.

 Researchers suggest that students should finish their activities and task early before the

due date to avoid cramming or connectivity issues that may affect their scores or also

their grades in the given task.

 The researchers recommend also expanding this study not only for the grade 11 students

of Notre Dame of Greater Manila but also for the other students that are experiencing

this kind of issue during this pandemic.
