English I

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

1. define Adjectives.

2. appreciate things that surround you and express oneself using describing words.

3. give their own example of Adjectives that are suitable for name of people, animals and
things.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Adjectives

Materials: Visual aids, board, chalk, real objects and pictures

Reference: English for a Brighter World, pages 81-85

Before we begin, let’s have a short prayer. (students are praying)

Is there any absentee for today? (students answer may vary)


B. Motivation

For now to energize everybody, I want


everyone to stand and we will sing a song.

Are you ready to sing, Grade 1?

This song is entitled Big, I will sing it first and Yes, Teacher!
everyone will sing it after.

Is that clear?

It goes like this (teacher is singing) Yes, Teacher!

(students sing the lyrics below)

Clean clean.
Dirty dirty dirty.

Slow.

An elephant is big,

What are the animals in the song? Elephant, ant, cat and pig.

C. Lesson Proper

Great! Those words are describing words or


Adjectives.

Adjectives are words that describe noun.

For example, Maine Mendoza is beautiful.

How did I describe Maine Mendoza? Beautiful

Good! Now, look on the sentences. Identify


the words that describe.

The chocolate is sweet. . What is the adjective Sweet.


in the sentence?

Very Good!

The box is blue. What is the adjective in the Blue.

Good!
I have three roses. What is the adjective in the Three.
sentence?

Now, I have here a ball. I want you to describe


it.

What can you say about the ball? It is circle.


It is only one.

Circle is an example of what? Shape, teacher!

Very Good. How about one? Number, Teacher.

Good!

Adjectives may also tell something about the


number, smell, color, size and shape of a
noun.

I also have cologne. How will you describe The cologne smells good.

How about this cotton. How will you describe The cotton is white.

D. Application

I will tell you a story. This is a conversation of a


father and his son.

All you have to do is to listen carefully and be


aware on the words that describe.

A Robot
Novita is a good boy. One day, his father went
to the mall to buy a robot for his son. He
bought a green robot.

Father: Good Morning, Novita! Since you are


a
good boy, I have a gift for you.
Novita: What is your gift for me, Father?
Father: I bought you a robot, here!
Novita: Wow! It is big. I like its color. It is
green.
Thank you, Father. I love you.
Father: I love you too, son.

(teacher tells the story)

Who are the characters in the story? Novita and his father are the character in the
story.

Give some adjectives that are mentioned in Good, green and big are the adjectives
the story? mentioned in the story.

Correct! Now, classify it.

Good pertains to whom? It pertains to Novita.

What is big based on the story? The robot is big.

E. Generalization

something.
