Are lightly armed, but all units have space and weight for Phalanx CIWS, Harpoon SSM, 8 additional VLS cells, second fire control radar, improved ECM/ESM. Joint program with New Zealand.

They are suffering from combat systems problems which will delay full combat capability for several years. All of the previous Oberon class have been retired.
