Jim Wrigley
Superintendent-St. Martins, Penn St. 2011 Employee Tournament Schedule
2011 will be Jim’s 4th year at the club.
Prior to PCC Jim was superintendent of
grounds at Johnson & Johnson’s
Pharmaceutical Research Institute. Jim
was also superintendent at Chester
Valley GC and Lu Lu CC. Jim is mar-
ried with two grown daughters, Kelly and Elizabeth. In his
spare time he enjoys golfing, reading, and spending time
with his family.
Henry “Skip” Heinz
Equipment Manager
In 2004, Skip was recognized by
Golfweek magazine as one of the finest
equipment managers in the U.S. The
quality of Skip’s work with mowing units
has earned him a spot working The
Memorial Tournament, which is widely
known to have the finest putting green
quality on tour. Prior employers also include Tiburon GC,
FL and Kalamazoo CC, MI. Outside of work, Skip enjoys
riding his Harley with his wife Deb.
Kris Kalil
Assistant-Militia Hill, Michigan St.
2011 will mark the 3rd year for Kris at
PCC. Kris started as a seasonal Turf
Grad working on PCC’s MH course
during the summer months and at Card
Sound Golf Club, FL during the winter
months. Kris has volunteered for the
Northern Trust Open and the AT&T
National. This year, Kris is headed to East Lake GC, for
the Tour Championship. Kris enjoys working out and is
an avid MSU sports fan.
Chris Freeman
Assistant-Wissahickon, Southern Illinois
Chris will be entering his 2nd season at
PCC. Chris came to PCC with our
arranged agreement with Card Sound
GC, FL. At SIU, Chris received his BS
in agronomy. Previously, Chris has
worked in Greenwich, CT at the Round
Hill Club and has volunteered at the
Tour Championship and US Women’s Open. In his spare
time Chris enjoys working out and rooting for Chicago
area sports teams.

Dan Meersman
Director of Grounds, Michigan St.
Dan graduated with a BS in agronomy,
and an AS in business administration.
Prior to PCC, Dan was superintendent
at Victoria National GC, IN and Copper
Hill CC, NJ. He is a 3rd generation golf
course superintendent with formal
assistant training performed at Caves
Valley GC, MD. Dan enjoys family-time in northern
Michigan, helping his employees further their careers,
and is honored to work The Masters each spring.
Steve Babcock
Superintendent-Wissahickon, Delaware
Valley College
2011 will be Steve’s 3rd season at
PCC. In 2008, Steve worked at
Valhalla GC leading up to, and during
the 2008 Ryder Cup. He performed
internships at The Country Club -
Brookline, MA, Shorehaven GC, CT
and the Golf Course at Glen Mills, PA. Steve grew up in
the industry, working for his father at 45-hole Tunxis
Plantation CC, CT. In 2011, Steve will be on the lookout
for head superintendent positions of his own.
Scott Rettmann
Superintendent-Militia Hill, Michigan
St.
Scott is entering his 3rd season at PCC.
Scott has worked his way up the ladder
after seasons as an intern and assistant.
While at MSU, Scott was president of
the Turf Club. Scott also has his BA
from MSU in criminal justice. Scott
has volunteered at the Memorial Tournament and the
Quail Hollow Championship in years past. He enjoys
spending time with his wife, Ashley and golfing.
 Scott Finney
Assistant-St. Martins, Penn State
2011 will be Scotts 4th season at PCC.
Scott has a BS from PSU and worked at
Beaver Stadium on the grounds crew
while in school. During the football
season, Scott works Eagle’s home games
at Lincoln Financial Field. Prior to PSU,
Scott worked 5 seasons at Manufacturers
CC. Outside of work Scott enjoys bowling and rooting for
Philadelphia professional sports teams.
Ty Jumper
Assistant-Militia Hill, Penn State
2011 will mark the 2nd year for Ty at
PCC. A graduate of Penn State’s Turf
Program, Ty has previously worked at
venerable clubs across the state of
Pennsylvania. Ty served as a volunteer
for last year’s Player’s Championship
and this year is headed to Plainfield CC
for The Barclays. Ty also holds a degree in education
from West Chester University and is a lifelong fan of the
Phillies.
Eric Shilling
Assistant-Militia Hill, Purdue
Eric will be entering his 1st season at
PCC. Eric secured his degree in
Agronomy from Purdue. Eric came to
PCC from The Club at Mediterra, FL
and has also been employed at Coyote
Crossing GC, IN. Eric volunteered at
the Ace Group Classic at The Quarry,
FL. This year Eric will be headed to Muirfield Village for
the annual Memorial Tournament. Eric enjoys many out-
door activities and spending time with his wife, Jenny.
Thomas Simpson
Assistant-Wissahickon, West. Kentucky
Thomas is coming to PCC after two sea-
sons at the Club at Olde Stone. Thomas
graduated with a degree in Agri-
culture. Thomas has gained experience
in managing turf in the transition zone at
Sage Valley GC, SC and Pinehurst GC,
NC. Thomas also worked in preparation
for the 2008 Ryder Cup at Valhalla. This season, Thomas
will be working the US Senior Open at Inverness. In his
spare time, Thomas is a diehard Kentucky basketball fan.
Drew Barnett
Assistant-Wissahickon, Penn State
2011 will be Drew’s 1st season at PCC.
Prior to PCC, Drew worked two seasons
at Corral de Tierra CC, CA as a part of
the NCGA Superintendent Training
Program. In 2010, Drew volunteered at
the US Open at Pebble Beach and AT&T
Pro-Am at Monterey Peninsula CC.
Drew will be working at the AT&T National at Aronimink
in 2011. In his spare time he is an avid golfer, enjoys the
outdoors and cheers for Philadelphia sports teams.
Joshua Weaver
Seasonal Intern., Maryland
2011 will mark Josh’s 1st year at PCC.
Josh has received his certificate in
Turfgrass Management from Maryland.
He also holds a BS in Agribusiness
Management from Penn State. Josh has a
diversified background in the industry
with a stint stops at Frederick Keys Base-
ball Stadium. This summer, Josh is headed out West, to the
U.S. Women’s Open at The Broadmoor, CO. Josh enjoys
watching and playing a variety of sports when time permits.
Brett Stowers
Seasonal Turf Grad., Virginia Tech
Brett enters his 1st season at PCC after
graduating with a degree in Turf
Management. He has previous experience
as an intern at Olde Farm GC, VA and
Pete Dye River Course, VA. At school,
Brett competed on the Turf Bowl team
and is an active member of the Wildlife
Society. Brett is excited to be volunteering at this years
Senior PGA Championship at Valhalla. When Brett is not
busy with school he enjoys playing golf and hunting.
Britton Hartzok
Seasonal Turf Grad. Penn State
A recent graduate of PSU, Britton will be
beginning his 1st season at PCC. At PSU,
Britton earned his BS in Turfgrass
Science and was involved with the Turf
Club. Britton gained experience at
managing turf in the South at Reynold’s
Plantation, SC, a multicourse community.
This year , Britton’s volunteer time will be spent at the
Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow. In his free
time Britton enjoys fishing and skiing.
Joe Gilson
Seasonal Turf Grad, Mississippi State
Joe will be starting his 1st year at PCC
after earning his degree in Agronomy.
Joe’s experience has led him all across
the country including stops at Old
Greenwood, CA, CC of Harrisburg and
MSU’s golf course. At MSU, Joe was
an active member of the Turf Club and
served as treasurer. He was also involved with many
different intramural sports. Joe is honored to work the
Wells Fargo Championship in 2011.
Josh Sells
Seasonal Turf Grad, Auburn
Josh will be entering his 1st season at
PCC. He recently graduated from
Auburn with a BS in Horticulture. At
Auburn, he was an active member of the
Turf Club and Turf Bowl team. He has
performed internships at Providence CC,
NC and CC of Birmingham, AL. Josh is
looking forward to volunteering at this years PGA Cham-
pionship. He enjoys playing and watchingsports and the
outdoors.
Jeffrey England
Seasonal Turf Grad, Horry-Georgetown
Jeffrey will be beginning his 1st year at
PCC after graduating with a degree in
Turf Management. While at school,
Jeffrey was the president of Turf Club
and organized a charity golf tournament
benefiting the local First Tee chapter.
Jeffrey’s previous experiences include
working at Quail Creek, SC and Valhalla GC, KY. Jeffrey
is headed to Kinloch GC to volunteer for the US Senior
Am.
George Miller
Seasonal Intern, Rhode Island
George will be coming to PCC for his
1st season at PCC this summer. He is on
track to get his degree in Hort. in 2012.
Also at Rhode Island George is a
defensemen for the club lacrosse team.
George comes to PCC after working two
seasons at Essex County CC, NJ. This
June, George is honored to be volunteering at
Congressional CC for the US Open. George enjoys
building furniture and visiting the beach.
