Title: Masked
Medium: Coffee on Paper
Concept: During the Covid-19 pandemic, the whole world was bound to wear masks as a
preventive measure. However, rants regarding wearing a mask for long hours were endless.
This made me wonder about the innumerous women all over the world who are forced to
cover themselves in 'burqa' throughout their lives. They are not even given the right to
complain and have to obey just due to religious purposes and here we were constantly
complaining about just a mask even though it is actually for our benefit. This painting was
done in monotones using coffee as a medium to express this thought.
Title: D ive into Space
Medium: Acrylic paint on Paper
Concept: The idea of discovering fantasy worlds beyond imagination was the core vision.
This artwork illustrates the abstract concept of diving deep into the ocean and falling into
the majestic space, connecting the extremes. I chose the cool color palette to unify the
color scheme of both ocean and space and express emotions of calmness and soothe.
Title: Light in the Dark
Medium: Mixed-media on Paper
Concept: I find it fascinating to connect nature with human emotions. The idea was, as the
forest gets dark after sunset it stimulates fear within us. But just at sunset, the forest
gleams with the warm orange hue, reminding us to be optimistic and look forward to the
light which will brighten up the darkness again. I intended to express this emotion through
this painting by the prominent use of contrasting black and orange colors.
Title: C reations
Medium: Watercolor on Paper
Concept: The idea behind this painting is based on Gestalt psychology that argues that the
whole is greater than the sum of its parts. But the whole can be beautiful when each element
in it adds up to it. Similarly with nature, when we view a landscape, there's a combination of
different elements of nature contributing to the beauty. As an artist, we can crop out one
particular element, in this case, the birds perching on branches, and highlight its beauty. Pale
yellow is used as a background to focus on the features of the birds.

Title: A
rabesque
Medium: Cardboard, Paper and Cotton on Tile
Concept: This artwork depicts a ballerina in an arabesque pose. This pose reminds me of a
dove ready to fly. Hence, the tutu is designed with the paper cut as feathers symbolize
elegance and cotton to bring out the softness. The white color signifies freedom and
openness with the contrasting blue tile signifying a clear sky.
Title: T
o the Stars
Medium: Acrylic paint on Paper
Concept: This artwork illustrates the fantasy concept of flying off, vanishing into a whirlpool in
the sky and teleported to the stars. Vibrant hues of red, blue and purple are used to define the
fascination of such a journey, while all other worldly creatures and objects are simply painted
as silhouettes.
Title: T wirls
Medium: Acrylic paint on Paper
Concept: This artwork depicts the Indian classical dance form "Kathak". Kathak’s chakkars or
fast-paced spins is an aspect of the dance form. I used the technique of blowing the acrylic
paint with a help of straw to create the swirling effect of the skirt during the spins. This was a
tribute to a Russian Kathak dancer - S vetlana Tulasi.
Title: Reveal
Medium: Mixed-media on Paper
Concept: The concept behind this artwork is the face that people around us carry every
moment does not even reveal half of the emotions and feelings they are going through. To
explain this thought, one half of the face is sketched using charcoal sticks showing a calm
face whereas the other half is doodled with colorful pens symbolizing boundless emotions
of joy, sadness, confusion, and more.
Title: D efine
Medium: Mixed-Media on Paper
Concept: The idea behind this artwork is that how beautiful it can be when someone colorizes
our life with colors of his own lively soul, hence giving our somber life a definition. I mainly
used watercolor pencils to maintain the rough texture as well as bring out vibrancy.
